People lose weight at the moment of their death too....there's some movie about that now, the title something number of "grams" which correspond to the number of grams you automatically lose the second you die. weight fluctuates all the time, apparently right to the last second of life. nothing to get excited about. it happens.

It seems a really sensible way to lose weight, just eating as if you were already there. I'm getting that the person your so mad at just said she lost weight by eating what she was supposed to. It's funny that upset you. But it sounds good to me. BTW, this poster ursuluna was here many, many months ago. I remember because she and your CL seemed to be pretty good friends on this board when I was here before. So it seems you don't know what you're talking about in this post. You might want to check archives, because she's about as *genuine* as it gets....or ask rely or some of the others.

I had posted a snide remark here but decided to remove it because I am better than that.

There was an Ursaluna who was on here back in July. This new Ursaluna in Ursaluna2 and copied the old persons name to attempt to come off as a old poster on this board. Anyone who wants to check is welcome too and you will see that these are two different people with different attitudes.

Wow.

I have not read all of these messages. I originally read the first few, b/c I thought the topic was interesting, but then left it until I saw tonight that there are nearly FIFTY posts here. So... I've read less than half the way through, but feel that I must give my two cents.

I love this board and the girls here. It is a very supportive place to come for encouragement. I see girls here who have worked hard and are approaching goal (which tells me with hard work it is possible!) and girls who are starting out, just like me. I keep the other posters updated with my highs and lows, but have not shared much of my history... Thought I'd give a little here-

Everyone in my family is overweight. Both my parents and both of my brothers. My grandmother is about 5'2" and has always seemed to be about as round as she is tall. Well, I have been overweight since a was a kid, and for a long time bought into the "genetic" aspect of it. Since college and starting my own life, I've realized that it is definitely more a case of lifestyle. My family leads a quite sedentary lifestyle where food is used to celebrate every situation.

Throughout college, and during my year and a half since, I had led a VERY sedentary lifestyle, in which I ate as I wished, not paying attention to nutrition or portion sizes.

SINCE JAN 2, 2004: I have changed my life. I have been eating healthily- watching portion size, choosing low fat, low calorie, and simply prepared foods (such as steamed veggies and broiled chicken) over my old faves (including fried chicken and french fries). I have joined Jazzercise and work out 3-4 days a week for 60 minutes each...

I feel that this is a DRAMATIC change in lifestyle for me. My intake of calories and fat has drastically decreased. My calories burned have drastically increased...

...And I am proud to be losing about 2 pounds per week fairly consistently. Today is 2/13/04 and I have lost 14 pounds since 1/2/04...

I don't buy your "sensible plan" and "sedentary lifestyle". Honey- if it was that easy, NO ONE would be fat! Also, don't you understand that we're trying here? This isn't a "It's fun to be fat" board! This is a "we are working to lose 100 pounds+" board! If you are here by mistake, then please move along!

I am glad that the ugly things people say just baffle me rather than discourage me. Hey girls? Don't be discouraged by what these ladies say. If you need encouragement, I am here for you!!! :)

Phew. Thanks for reading. I feel better now!

I tried finding a reputable source about the weight loss upon death, but alas I cannot find any. Not that it has any bearing whatsoever on this discussion, but you mentioned it. AND besides the fact that 21 grams (I looked up the movie) is less than one OUNCE even, so it's not likely to be noticed on the scale.

Just because a movie has a scientific premise does not make it so. Otherwise we'd all be flying around in jet propulsion cars, transporting across the galaxy, and the island of Manhattan
