What I have is called Hidradenitis. It's basically boils. I get them mainly on my thighs. But have had them on my chest, stomach, and somtimes other places. Luckily I have not had it as bad as some people. I can barely stand one, I have read stories of people having 3-4 at a time. I have noticed when I lose weight they seem to clear up for longer periods of time. But they still leave awful scars. Which I can have removed later in life.

I can't remember having had rashes though. I know exactly how she feels having to cover up. I can't be comfortable in shorts or bathing suit b/c of my scars. My self esteem is at an all time low. I thank God for my b/f. He's so understanding. Takes care of me when I'm down. Changes banadages and everything. I don't think any other person out there would do that.

What's her doc say about it?

Jess,

Do you use any artificial sweeteners? This may be totally unrealted but my mom gets boils from aspartame (any artificial sweeteners, diet soda, etc). I'm not sure if it is aspartame alone or aspartame and a medication she is taking, but I know she cant have it anymore.

Everyday...I use Sweet n Low in my coffee and/or tea. Between 3 and 6 packets a day. That's interesting. Can you tell me more? Since she stopped having the sweetners has she had any occurances?

By the way...I've been meaning to send you a message. You look just like Jennifer Lopez in the pic that's in your messages. Don't know if your a fan of JLo, but I think she's beautiful. :)

Wow Jess I had no idea you was referring to Hidradenitis I have had it for about 9 years now but it getting more severe as the years go by. My sister has it very bad my brother mildly did you know most causes are hereditary? My mother got bails once in a while but other then that we cant trace it past my sister being the first and worst off. I know how you feel it is painful and the scars are awful I am lucky I have only gotten them in places that can be hidden by clothes easily but I have in time had up to as many as 4-5 at a time my sister not a day goes by she don’t have tons of them that is what ended up putting her on disability she’s had to have a lot of surgeries not just lancing. I cannot believe they have not found a cause but she was highly over weight and had gastric bypass she still had them bad when she lost all her weight. I feel ya on that aspect lord help when we get one on our pants line… ouch… my dh is is caring about it to but I wont let him change my bandages or anything I guess I cant even let him see it its so embarrassing. when I was referring to my friend hers is more of a rash like….she’s been to several drs… even had biopsies they all come back inconclusive when she first broke out ina little spot she went to a clinic they told her it was scabies and gave her a body scream she put it on and it spread like wild fire the dermatologist said there was no way it was scabies and said they should have known better….. But they can’t figure out what it is

Desiree,

Just wanted to let you know that if you ever need to talk or anything please email me. It is an awful thing to go through. And even though I have my b/f, I still feel very much alone.

As for it being hereditary...I've already looked into that. Not one person in my family has it. And not one of them understands it. And yes, the pant lines...OUCH!

Anyway, sorry to have this in common. But I'm here if ya need me!!

Jess,

That goes for you to if you need someone to talk about our common problem. It is a horrible disease that unless they have it they don’t understand it. They might can sympathize but they can not possibly understand fully. And here most doctors look at my crazy when I bring it up. My midwife that is treating my girly problems went and researched it just so she would know what im talking about because she had seen one and tried to tell me it was staph and I had to explain to her it is so much more at least she took the time to listen then research. It is good you boyfriend is caring and understanding it helps so much I never let dh see mine if I can help it but my best friend that I have mentioned now she is the one I turn to she has one of them iron stomachs that nothing seems to bother so if I need help she don’t even flinch. But as you know as bad as the pain is the scars are worst because they never go away but this is something I am sure we will live with for the rest of our lives :( write any time Desiree741@hotmail.com
