Hey All:) I just had a quick question... Is anyone doing any kind of diet that is not low carb, or maybe one that is low carb but not as strict as the Atkins??? If so, which one and how is it going? Looking for something other than a really strict low carb diet! Thanks in advance:)

The book I have is actually a lowfat Mexican cookbook, but I haven't tried a lot of the recipes besides the salsas yet. It's called the Ultimate Low-fat Mexican Cookbook by Anne Lindsay Greer. There are several good ones I've tried -my favorites are the mango salsa (which you can also use papaya), pineapple-pepper salsa, pico de gallo, grilled corn and pepper salsa, and warm shrimp salsa (with any type of fish). All the recipes are low in fat and calories. THe Mango salsa has a trace of fat and 46 calories per serving (makes 6 servings) for example.

Curves is an exercise program, but they also have a diet. Its a 6-week plan, I think. There is a book on it.

Hope this helps

The curves diet is a diet with an exercise program although I am going to have to skimp on the exercise part a little due to some medical issues right now but am going to still do some light exercises at home.

If you read the news, or heard a news program last week, then you'd know you are wrong. Atkins diet had everything to do with his death, and the man was HUGE when he died. Check on his autopsy.

That would be a good tip, and YOU might try it. You can't get more factual than Atkins autopsy. And Atkins autopsy PROVES that he was morbidly obese, had a history of heart attacks, had cholesterol clogged arteries on the day he died. It's kind of hard to over look the obvious.....THE MAN'S FINAL MEDICAL INFORMATION. The FACTUAL information, contained in Atkins autopsy report, is that Atkins diet killed him.

No, actually, that's just what the Atkins organization (his business, and his widow) put out there. The actual final medical report, Atkins autopsy signed by the coroner and his doctor, show that Dr. Atkins had repeated heart attacks brought on by his diet, his autopsy showed clogged arteries, enlarged heart with huge fat deposits around heart and other vital organs. The report concludes that Atkins diet contributed to his death. Period.

Thanks, I know. It's odd that some people on Atkins diet would continue to defend that diet. After all, it contributed to Atkins death and eating that much fat could kill anyone on the Atkins diet too. Some folks never learn. Atkins, in mad persuit of the almighty dollar, was apparently one of them. And Atkids who risk their health on his diet, in mad persuit of weight loss at the risk of health loss, are others. Go figure.

Well, is she? The autopsy report itself is online, and that should be a CREDIBLE source for you. It was reproduced in Wall Street Journal last week also, another CREDIBLE source. Or if that isn't CREDIBLE enough for you, then order your own copy from NY State....that's where it's filed, and will cost you $12.00. Let your fingers do the walking.....if you haven't heard about the autopsy report, it's because you don't want to.
