I understand the pic thing i do the same thing. And welcome to the board and good luck on working towards and beyond that picture!

This is my own personal experience:

I used to eat and eat and never feel full - I cut down my portions and I find that I am very satisfied with a lot less - I think there is some truth to the stomach shrinking thing, although I have no scientific proof to back it up.

Of course it stretches and shrinks throughout the day, and not only with food but fluids and digestive gasses. Have you ever seen an animal stomach? Some grocery stores sell those under specialty meats. You can see how many folds a stomach has. The human stomach is about 1/2 teacup size but as we all know it can get really huge, especially for obese individuals. The uterus is another example, if that helps to think of that organ "full" vs empty.

Actually the stomach is a set size. It does expand to accomodate a large amount of food but once the food is expended it goes back to the origional size. It doesn't get any smaller than that. Pity :)

I'm not so sure thats true Annabella. You hear about a lot of obese people who have gastric bypass surgery and their stomachs have stretched to 2 or 3 times an average stomach. So I am fairly certain that after an extended period of time it can be permanently stretched to accomodate the amount of food thats being consumed.
