I was just wondering if those of you who have lost a good amount of weight had your blood work done b4 the weight loss and what it is now. I never had mine done before and just received my bloodwork. I knew my BP was better, it was 127/80 average and now it's 110/70 average. My total cholesterol is 124! I couldn't believe my eyes! That's even below normal, I guess the Vegan eating has been doing me good. Of course, like I said, I don't know what it was 63 pounds ago.

for those of you who are unfamiliar with eating vegan, it consists of no meat or animal by-products and is grains, vegetables, soy (meat alternatives), fruit, nuts and legumes and sparse oils. Of course there are vegan cookies/chips/candy etc. so you still need to watch what you eat, but there is NO Cholesterol!

Well, by some miracle, at my highest weight, my cholesterol was only 176. I've only lost about 15 pounds since then, but I am curious if it went down at all. My BP is high, and I'm on medication for that, so I can't wait to come off of that finally! I have a dr's appt in April, so we'll see how I do. I've been checking it on my own and it seems to have gone down a little, but not enough to reduce my meds I don't think.

My blood pressure readings were what prompted the nurse to encourage me to lose weight. I saw her on Sept. 30; my blood pressure reading at that appointment was 136/86 (I believe), and my pulse was about 86 or so. Since then I've lost 30 pounds, but my systolic blood pressure continues to be over 130. My diastolic blood pressure has dropped about 10 points, and my resting pulse is now in the high 60s/lows 70s. I have no idea what my cholesterol and blood glucose readings were before I started losing weight, but at the end of January my total cholesterol was 162 and my blood glucose was 108. I've lost 10 pounds since that appointment, and will have the blood work done again in early October (I hope by that time that I will have lost an additional 40-50 pounds).
