Hi all,..

Ive been here before,. months,.. years ago, im not even sure, Ive started and failed so many times before, But I know i need a change, Im thinking of starting the DASH diet. Dietary approach to Stopping hypertension, which is basically your food pyramid with lowfat dairy. My main question is, since I've been sedentary for years and am very overweight, what exercise program/tape etc. can i do to ease myself into a better lifestyle?

thanks!

thanks for all of the advice and support. I already have a couple of exercise tapes but I find that I get really aggravated with them because its impossible for me to finish them at this point. I have Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies 3 and i have the tonin uptown/downtown set by richard simmons also, but i feel that i need to lose weight before i try toning it, LOL. I guess i could try just doing a couple of the songs on the sweatin tape at a time, then hopefully I can work up to more. Its times like these when i really get down, I mean Im supposed to be able to do the whole tape *sigh* well someday I will :-)

Heather, if you can only do 10 minutes, don't worry about it. I recently bought the Firm tapes, and I right now I can only do about 10 or 15 minutes of it at a time. I do feel myself getting stronger, and hopefully I will be able to do the whole tape soon. Take your time, and just do what you can. I promise you if you keep it up, you will be able to do the whole tape before you know it. Don't get discouraged and good luck!

Walk Away the Pounds..........

Hi Heather! Good for you doing something for yourself! Dont beat yourself up for the past, look to the future.

I agree on the walking. I am working Weight Watchers, I like being able to eat what my family eats. (Sounds like you can with your plan too.)

I use Walk Away the Pounds too. It is quick (20 minutes with warm up and cool down) for the 1 mile walk. It starts you out exercising. No fancy moves to learn. (some kicks and side steps but you dont have to do them) I moved up to the 2 mile walk today! And this is not expensive I got one dvd with 3 walks on it (1 mile, 2 mile , 3 mile) and a belt with bands to do stretching for like $20 last year. I can do this in the privacy of my own home (a real plus for me) and stores in a small box by the tv. (LOL I sound like an ad!) But it is the easiest thing I have ever done -- I am clumsy so that was most important.

Good Luck ! Valerie
