I had posted before about getting started with my healthier lifestyle. Waiting to go food shopping but in the meantime I wanted to start some sort of exercise plan. Well, I had been thinking about Walk Away the Ponds by leslie sansone, and i just hadnt bought it yet and wasnt sure if i would, I just am too sedentary to walk very far, but today in my Woman's Day magazine i found a leslie sansone article, she breaks down her 1 mile workout and everything! I swear, I think its a sign that im headed in the right direction. So now until I buy the tape, i have this to work with. Its also posted on the net for anyone who wants to see. I also took a huge first step and drank about 30 oz of water during the day, i know its not as much as I need to drink, but before today I couldnt have told you the last time I had drank water and not soda, I had soda but only about 1/3rd of what I usually have!

An idea/thought on water...I used to be a big time caffeine-free-diet-pepsi person, I could drink at least a 2 liter a day if allowed. Even more sometimes. WEll, it is very hard to drink much water if you're drinking pop, any at all, I have noticed. It seems as though pop tricks your body into believing it's not thirsty (and sometimes not hungry) and honestly, I feel like it makes water not even taste good. It takes me about 2 days WITHOUT ANY POP and I force myself to even drink a little water and then I find myself craving more water. I can easily drink 64 ounces a day. I keep a water bottle with the ounces printed on the side and sip all day. If I even have 1 pop, I not only find myself not drinking water, but I also crave junk food. JUST A THOUGHT!
ps...sorry for using the term "pop", I'm a Michigander, and I felt kind of funny writing this post using "soda" hehe

It is difficult to make a lifestyle change... There are numbers I've heard, but can't recall at the moment. Something about it taking 40-something days to make a new habit? Sounds like you are off to a great start. WATP is fantastic for getting moving. Keep up the positive change!

Congrats on taking those first steps! Getting started can be so overwhelming, but just doing a little each day can make a big difference. I'm glad you are getting Leslie Sansone's tapes and read the article. I think her tapes are great for getting started. That's how I started, and I still do her tapes now along with other forms of exercise that I've worked in. Just do 5 or 10 minutes if that's all you can do at first. I promise you it does get easier. I could only do about 10 minutes in the beginning, and after only about 2 months, I can do 20-30 minutes at a time.
Taking your time with the water is a good idea, too. If you can only do 30 oz right now, that's ok. You need to get used to it and then gradually build up. Expect to visit the bathroom more often, too with all that water! That will get better after a while also.
I'm glad things are falling into place for you. Believe me, I know from experience how hard it is to get things going and then keeping it going! It is so worth it, though. Good luck and I hope you enjoy Leslie's tapes as much as I do.

I followed your link, read the "One mile breakdown" and then stopped. I have to say, I don't get it. Why not just walk the mile? Why all the side steps etc? I sometimes think these are just money-making gimmicks and, well, if it works to pad Leslie Sansone's bank account, then I guess it's good for something. And if it works to get some people moving more, then it's good for that too. But I somehow doubt that the side-stepping, walking in place, and a couple knee lifts on that one mile would be one jot more beneficial than just WALKING the one mile and spending the tape money on something else (or saving it). But then I have to confess, I've just found ways to add movement into my day and most of that has nothing to do with parting with money to pay someone else for it. How is the tape any better, or worse, than just going for a walk? What do you think?

I've never done the WATP but there's been days when i've just done 15-20 min. leg exercises in the evening while watching tv to get some exercise in (just like the webpage had) so i think it's great that you found the page and are working on it.
