Back Again and Starting Over

It's been a long time since I've posted to this board. I'm coming back to say that I'm starting over. I want so desperately to lose the weight I need to lose. Right now I'm at 316 (confirmed by a doctor's appointment yesterday) and I'm so, so unhappy. I've been thinking lately about the possibility of a low-carb type diet and would like to know how to start . . . this coming from a meat and POTATOES kind of gal. Any suggestions, advise, encouragement would be more than welcome.

Thank you.

Hi! Welcome to the board!

I understand being unhappy. The women here are on a variety of different plans, but I am currently doing Atkins and I am succeeding at it, as are several of the gals here.

I didn't think I could do low-carb anything because I LOVE rice and potatoes. But I am also insulin resistant and the bottom line is that carbs do me more harm than good in the long run. I have excellent blood pressure, and have suffered no ill effects except for the first few days of carb withdrawal. That sucked, but I don't crave those things anymore. I have lost 28 lbs since Jan 5th, and that's even though I missed several days of exercise and screwed with my diet a bit because I was sick.

I have a lot of atkins appropriate recipes from people on this board and the atkins board if you'd like me to send them along to you let me know. :-)

Anyway, post up and often! The ladies on this board are phenomenal.

Oh yeah, forgot to add-

using www.fitday.com to track your activity and food is a good tool for some, and I also track myself at www.atkins.com where they give you all the rules for induction etc. if you decide to try that program.

See you around!

First...HUGS for you!!!

Sweetie,

Don't worry. I would advise that you ask your doctor what program he or she would like to see you on. Then set up goals and start to reach them. That's what I did. My first goal, which I just reached, was to learn how to eat healthier without a diet plan. My next now is to lose the extra fluff I have. Don't worry about starts and restarts it's natural.

You can do this you really can
