Alright... Just thought I'd ask. Feel free to laugh... I am right now. ;)

Can vitamins make you gassy? For the last 3 days, I have been very gassy. The only thing that has changed is that I started taking vitamins (One-a-Day Weight Smarts, and a 30%DRV calcium supplement). Any thoughts?

Thanks for bearing with me. :)

I've been taking vitamins (Centrum) for at least 8 years now, and that's never happened to me. But different things make different people gassy. I can eat beans and have no problem, but garlic, that makes me so bloated with gas it's embarassing! Too bad, too because I love garlic. So I only eat it when I know I'll be alone afterwards =)

Have you been eating more protein lately? That will do it. Never had any problems with vitamins though.

Don't forget more fiber in your diet will do this as well until you get used to it. I get gassy from the protien and fiber i have started to have at every meal and snack. but i tell you ...you know how much weight you lose when that comes out??? :)

Hey ladies-

Thanks for the replies. Like I said, my diet hasn't changed. I made major changes to my diet at the beginning of january, but what I'm eating has stayed pretty consistent since then. The vitamins were the only change I could think of. Hmmm... If it doesn't get better soon, I'm going to ask my doc. You just cannot teach 8 year olds and have gas!! LOL

Aha! I have the answer to this. And, yes, I did happen to me. So I asked my friend, who is a nutrionist and owns a vitamin/supplement shop. Depending on the brand vitamin, the extraneous fillers in the pills can make you gassy. He said that One a Days, Centrum and such have fillers besides the good stuff in them. (this will sound gross but to help you understand....sometimes dog/cat food have fillers in them). He said to make sure you go to a GNC or some other type shop and spend a few dollars more to get a better product and you'll be fine. He recommends GNC Women's Nutritional (purple/white/red label). It is a few bucks more but the bottle is also bigger. Hope this helps.

Kerry-

Thanks! Hmmm... I know it is worth it to spend a few extra bucks. Wish I hadn't just bought an extra huge bottle of these from the superstore... Maybe my body will get used to the fillers? lol Prob not, I guess.

Thanks so much for the info!!
