So sick of starting over and over......

Okay, let me start by apologizing. Sorry for this downer post! Maybe its cuz its a rainy/snowy day here, but I am just so bummed. It seems that every week I "start over" on my journey to weight loss. And, by the end of the week, I'm off that journey. I don't know what it is with me. I'm so sick of beeing "fluffy" (okay, fat) and I WANT to get thinner, but each week its the same thing.

I've read some of the things written to others on this board, that they need psychological help, etc... and I really don't want to hear that! Guess I just need to vent (sorry again). I'm just so bummed and tired of the way I look , feel, and the fact that my self-control seems to just suck. I'm so envious of all of you who are losing. I just hope I can do it one day.

Well, that's it. Enough said. I just needed to say it, that's all. Have a good week, everyone!

Dawn--

It's great to vent on here, that is what we're here for--to listen and advise. It is soo hard to stay on track--I know that! I have done so bad lately!! But in any case, you will start to lose when you're ready. I know you want to, but you may not be mentally ready--and there is no shame in that. When you're ready, you'll know it and you will start to lose. good luck with that.

Dawn ~ Hi. I don't think you need psychological help. I know I didn't. The way you feel now is how I've felt for the past 10 years. And then, just one day, it clicked. I suppose it was after seeing several pics of myself and not realizing that I really looked that way to people and after I couldn't handle being out of breath every time I did something physical and having a hard time getting up off the couch or chair. What you are going through is something I can totally understand and you are not alone. Sometimes the answer is as simple as finding a plan that works well and appeals to you. (ie. I'm on Atkins right now and feel very satisfied with what/how much I eat). Do some research on a different way of eating and see if it piques your curiosity. A lot of women here have just changed their eating habits a bit by cutting out sweets, soda, fast food to start and added in more healthy food choices and have been very successful. It may not seem like a lot to do but it works for them and could very well work for you. Only you know what will work. There is a lot of valuable info on these boards so feel free to look thru all the past posts for something that may help that light bulb go off. Good luck to you in whatever you do. Please let me know if you need anything!

Hugs to you!

Dawn...

No worries hon. Vent!! Here Vent some more.

We all get that way and it's ok. Make a list of baby goals and reach them as you reach them grow the goals up and your own achievements will grow.

Hon, I have only lost 8 pounds and it's been 2 months. BUT I have learned how to eat and how to listen to my body and I am very happy with that. Now that I have crossed that off my list the rest will follow. Do what you think is best for you and don't worry about.

It tkaes 21 days to break a habit and 40 to make a lifestyle change. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

breathing hard now....putting megaphone down.

Seriously you can do this

Hi Dawn. I have been there many, many times! I would wake up Monday morning, all gung ho about losing weight, and then by Wednesday I'd be back to my old habits. I guess finally one day I decided enough was enough, that I was once and for all going to get serious about weight loss. What has helped me was making several small changes to my diet, and not trying to overhaul it all at once. I think if you try to do too much at once, you'll get discouraged and drop the whole thing. I started by increasing my water intake until I was able to easily do 64 oz in a day, trying to add more fruits and vegetables to my diet, and watching the sweets (that's always been my weak point). I also started exercising a couple of times a week. Now I'm up to 5-6 days a week of exercising and although I'm still working on improving my eating habits, they are definitely better than they were 3 months ago. Now, just because this worked for me, doesn't necessarily mean that it will work for you, but you might want to give it a try. Good luck and please, don't give up!!!

I'd like to thank all of you for all the advice and support you've given me. Everything makes so much sense and I will try to follow through on your suggestions. Thank you all so much for listening and giving advice. And yes, Shawna, I need both the hug and the kick!!!

I'll let you all know how I"m doing.

I did that for months before I actually started sticking to a diet. What has really helped me is that I create a menu for the week and then when I go to the store I only buy what is on my list. I also got rid of all bad and tempting food in the house. I know it is hard but once you start it gets easier and it is so worth it. good luck. sharla

Hi Dawn,

We could be twins. Every Monday seems like I am starting over. Loosing weight & getting healthy is hard. It is a full time job we don't get paid (money) for. The rewards are great if we succed but if we fail we are so down on ourselves. But you are here so post often keep track of you food & the time you eat - you may notice a pattern you can work on. But most importantly you are a wonderful person that deserves to be happy. Be well - togeter we can reach our goals.

All the best

Hi, Dawn...

Vent away! Keeping in touch with what's going on in your weight loss journey, and seeking support... all good. Vent some more! Self-control wavers... if it didn't, you'd be a drill sergeant, not a dear. Vent again, and blame it on the weather... makes it easier to move past it (provided winter EVER eases up). Hope today is better for you.

Dawn,

Maybe you're just not *ready* to diet yet? Is that possible? When you are ready, really ready, then all else will fall into place...don't you think so?
