Hello, there! New gal here!

Hi all! My name is Joanne, most people I know call me Jo. I'm 35 years old, married, with two preteen sons. Once upon a time I was the queen of fastfood dining, then I found out about two months ago that I'm diabetic and have all the other problems that go along with that (high triglycerides, fatty liver, insulin resistance). My doctor reccomended I follow a low-carb type of diet. After a lot of research, I finally settled on a modified (to suit me personally) version of the South Beach Diet. So far, it is working pretty well. I've gone from 313.5 lbs. to 295 after four and a half weeks. I hear that is a little on the slow side for such a diet, but I'm happy anyway. Even if it is just water weight, I still feel better. It is the first time I have been under 300 lbs. in over three years!
Whew....I've just blabbed on and on without catching my breath, LOL! I'll just close by saying that it is nice to find a place where I can meet other women going through the same ups and downs I am.

You will be amazed at how much better you feel after you lose some...my lower back hasn't felt this good since high school...lol. I weighed in at 207 this morning...I started at 276. I am doing Atkins (kind of modified now...I am not as strict as I was when I started).
You are going to do this...you'll do great!
Big hugs!!!

Thanks for the welcome and congratulations to you on that handsome new son of yours!
Gosh, I can still remember when mine were that tiny. All I wanted to do was hug and kiss them 24/7! Now, they think they're too grown up for the mushy stuff, LOL! Enjoy your little one, they grow up way too fast.
