who is back AGAIN??? LOL I've been here off and on for a while, but I don't think I was ready to commit. (Also, at the time I got a lot of support here for the fact that I was NOT losing, even though I was doing everything "right". Turns out, I'm severely hypo-thyroid!!! Getting the medication for that is not a magic weight-loss pill, but makes healthy weight loss POSSIBLE for the first time in years). Most recently - last summer - I was doing South Beach and talking about how great it is...but I couldn't stick to it because of the limited variety. I need those carbs! LOL CELEBRATION POINT: My hubby lost 60 pounds on the diet and is fit and healthy and looks GREAT!! Anyway, I am now doing a basic "healthy eating" plan...focussing on cutting the junk and adding fruits and veggies. And for the first time EVER I'm on a good fitness plan - alternating a strength training workout with an aerobic workout every day. I'm still pretty limited in what I can do - but I'm improving already and feel GREAT. It's been about 3 weeks now, and I think I can do it for the long haul. I'm finally experiencing success instead of frustration and failure, and that is all I need to keep me going.

You sound just like me! I've been on and off here about 3 or 4 times. Just like you, I am severely hypothyroid!! The only problem is that I was diagnosed about 10 years ago (I'm 25 now, so I was diagnosed when I was 15). The problem is that I've developed a large goiter because my thyroid is out of control. It's not producing enough hormone and the medication isn't helping, no matter how much they give me. Just keep your head up...you're going to get through it this time. We're in it together. For people who don't have this condition, they don't understand. And many times there are myths about hypothryoidism. For example, my old doctor told me that is has nothing to do with weight loss. WHAT!? Yes it does! Now that I'm getting higher doses of medication, I'm finally starting to feel better and have more energy to workout. My current doctor thinks I've had this condition since I was born, but my stupid doctor before kept telling me I was just fat and needed to exercise. Well, all I can say is that thyroid replacement is not a miracle, but it does indeed get that energy up so you can lose some weight. It is more difficult for us, but who said life is ever easy? It is were, it wouldn't be so rewarding when we overcame trials and tribulations.
I also wanted to say AWESOME work on not only doing cardio, but strength training. My doctor said that is the #1 thing hypothyroid patients need is strength training. The biggest reason is because the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. So essentially strength training puts us on the same playing field as those without metabolic issues.
Good luck to you!! You're on your way to a great start!!
