What eating plan is everyone on?

Hey! I just wanted to get a feel for what food plan (WW, Atkins, private dietician, food pyramid, low-cal, low-fat) everyone was on. I know that some of you have been successful on different plans. I'm interested to see what's working for everyone, so maybe it will work for me.

Thanks!

Hi BrookeLyn,

I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I haven’t used any one particular book or resource, but I’ve read a lot of magazine and newspaper articles that relate to healthy eating and weight control. Unfortunately, a lot of these articles tend to contradict each other, so I just use my best judgement (after 20 + years of reading these articles, I have a pretty good idea what sounds like good advice and what sounds like a trend). If you’re unsure of what resources to use, maybe your doctor can point you in the right direction. Prevention magazine is a good resource in my opinion. Your doctor might even recommend a nutritionist or a dietician (there is a difference between the two, although I can’t remember what the difference is right now). I’ve been thinking of asking my doctor to refer me to a nutritionist or dietician just to make sure I’m on the right track. I’m not sure if this helps you or not, but I hope it does. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Well, I'm on a really radical new fad diet, right now...eating sensibly! LOL for me, that really IS something new. I haven't been off a "plan" in years - mostly low carb (Carbohydrate Addicts, South Beach) or Weight Watchers, or something called "Diet Power" that is personal software for tracking calories and nutrition values. THIS time I decided not to worry, stress, or obsess - and most of all to quit looking for "loopholes". I'm trying to make a conscious effort to add fruits and vegetables, and I've cut out my standard "junk" food, except for a couple of Hershey's Kisses after dinner every night. I'm checking labels, eating whole wheats, etc. So far, it's working and I feel WAY more relaxed than I usually do when dieting.

I'm doing sugar busters. My Dr. reccomended it and it has worked well for me in the past where other diets have not. sharla

I'm on the Atkins plan, and I love it. I'm feeling really good, losing weight, and no longer obsessing about food. The plan tells you to eat if you're hungry, and I've done that. I ate a lot the first few days, and I still eat whenever I'm hungry, but I'm eating & binging a lot less than I was before.

I also don't get bored with it, because I eat a wide variety of protein and mix it with different vegetables. I really haven't been on it that long, but like I said, I love it. It doesn't really feel like a diet, as far as, I'm don't feel like I'm depriving myself and I'm not obsessing about the food I'm not "supposed" to eat.
