My bills are paid! My bills are paid!

YAY! Rob and I got our taxes back and not only did we catch up on everything we were behind in, but we also paid everything a month ahead! I was SO HAPPY! He's only had 2 regular checks since Thanksgiving- lack of work was leading to shorter days and we were getting behind on things. But it's all better now, and we have emergency money left in the bank even AFTER our weekend spending spree (more about that in next paragraph).

Saturday we went to dinner and rented movies. I was SO good. I had cajun chicken and salad and 3 glasses of water with lemon. Sunday we drove to Rockford (about an hour away) and had brunch at IHOP (I had machaca, pretty low in carbs). We shopped all day, and I was so happy! Rob bought me the rest of the Stephanie Plum books I wanted and I read them already. (LOVED THEM) He also bought me DDRMAX2 (dance dance revolution game) and a dance pad for it (ON SALE! The game was 18 bucks and the pad was 20- I LOVE sales!). We took the kids to a health fair and had photo id's made of them. We bought them a movie and a few things they asked for, rollerblades and helmets and knee and elbow pads. (They used to have those things but they were lost in our house fire last year) We bought the stuff to get MY computer networked and set up so I don't have to share with Rob anymore. (THANK GOODNESS!) Rob got a computer game called Age of Mythology and a ram chip for his computer. Yesterday I rented a rug shampooer and got my carpets cleaned, bought a shelf that I wanted, some gardening supplies, some groceries, some kitchen plants (basil, oregano, thyme, garlic chives and rosemary- my kitchen smells like an Italian restaurant!), and some pet care products. We also bought stuff for the kids' Easter baskets and put some things on Layaway for Ramey's bday in May.

Life is good.

We haven't gotten behind on anything, but things sure are tight. Anywho...April 1st I'll be shopping like you were. Hopefully for my Mini Cooper woohoo!

I don't understand people who live check to check like that. If money was tight, you'd think after paying the bills the rest would go into the bank, rather than on a spending spree, in order to avoid a similar situation in a few weeks. It makes no sense, really.

I'm pretty sure she and Rob can do anything they want with their own money (however little or much that is). It's not for you to judge. Although, to avoid conflict, you are entitled to your opinion. However, this is a support board ya know...

Oh sorry if you missed it but we DID leave money in the bank in case of an emergency. And since I didn't say how much our return was or how much we spent on most things, it could be anything from 50 cents to a couple grand or so, and whatever we CHOSE to put in was significant and appropriate, rest assured. All of our bills are PAID and ahead of schedule, we have no credit cards, I paid off the final bit of my student loan this time around, and my husbands next 3 paychecks are free and clear to go to the bank as well. We won't be having any troubles in the next few weeks.

As far as living paycheck to paycheck- glad you're not in that predicament. Some of us have had a rough year. Perhaps it was the house catching on fire and suddenly having no place to live, or perhaps it was the medical bills from my daughters extended hospital stay when she had viral meningitis that dwindled our savings. Or could it be the move to IL, to be in a safer area and to be nearer my husband's family when his grandmother was on her death bed. It has been a very long time since my husband and I were able to treat ourselves and our children to some things we wanted. In any event, your mean-spiritedness is unappreciated and uncalled for.
