I was wondering if any of you could suggest an exercise video that is appropriate for a large size gal like myself. I can't really do aerobics at my current size. When I've tried those types of workouts I've only ended up marching in place because the moves are just too difficult for me. Yoga is definately out until I drop 50 lbs. or so. I've seen the walking videos but wonder if they're worth the $$$. I would like to have a video workout for the days the weather or my schedule keeps me from walking the track near my home. Any suggestions?

When I was starting out, Walk away the Pounds was a great video to start with. The one mile tape is only about 20 minutes long, and the moves are not too difficult. If the moves get to be too difficult for you in the beginning, just do what you can and march in place the rest of the time. In no time you'll be doing more than you thought you were capable of. Leslie Sansone, the woman in the videos, encourages you to march in place if the moves become too difficult for you. I like to recommend her tapes to anyone starting out. Hope this helps, and good luck with your search =)

I am 315 pounds so exercise has been a challenge for me. However, I do like Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds. It's a great exercise, especially if you use resistance training (light arm weights) with it. Some of her programs have a belt thing and others have some other type of thing she does. But you can use just light weights. I'd highly recommend it.
Also, have your heard of The Firm? It's a strength training workout that will help you get into better shape so you are stronger and can do more.
Just so you know how much exercise can improve you, I started out walking a few months ago. Just walking. Now I can run on an elliptical machine for 30 minutes no problem and I'm still 315 pounds. I have metabolic issues, so we're working on them. But I have lost 6% of my body fat, although I've lost no weight! Oh well, c'est la vie! Oh, and I also do strength training for my entire body 3 days a week at the gym. It's really worth it...you'll get so much stronger. And don't be afraid to bulk up...you're not going to do that, no matter how much weight you lift.
I hope that helps.

The only ones i've rented that i liked so far is Walk Away the Pounds 2 mi. the rest were either too fast paced or i didn't like the workout.
If you can check out tapes at your library i would try a few and see if they are worth buying or just keep renting =)
Good luck
The only video that I own is called "Yoga for Weight Loss". I got it at Sams and the company that puts it out starts with a G. I can't remember the company, but they had a series of yoga tapes- all under $10. There are 4 ladies in the video, and they show the variations for every move so you can build your strength and flexibilty without killing yourself. Beginners follow 1 lady throughout the whole video and you would mvoe to the next lady as you improve. I remember a long time ago that I used to do the Richard Simmons tapes- those are specifically designed for larger people- you might be able to keep up better with those. I agree with another poster who suggested checking the library before you invest money on a video that is too difficult for you. If you're already walking, maybe a walking video isn't the best for you. It might help to get a weight training video or something different to mix things up a little. Also, maybe check at a gym or YMCA near you and see if there are any water aerobics classes available. They are no-impact, and alot more comfortable to do than standard aerobics (you don't sweat either!!) Best of luck to you! Hope this helps!!
