Do you know why people are addicted to Starbucks?

When you order anything with coffee (whether it's hot or cold) they run their espresso longer. The average coffee shop barista will run an espresso shot for 21-25 seconds. Starbucks runs their shots for 40-45 seconds. Therefore, at Starbucks, you're getting every last drop of caffeine out of one shot. Their customers are addicted to the caffeine overdose (that they wouldn't get at an 'average' coffee shop). Ever notice that it's bitter? It's not supposed to be.

I, personally, try to find the cozy coffee shops who take pride in their coffee and don't deal with the amount of customers that Starbucks gets because I know I'll get a good quality cup of coffee. In order to make a good coffee, you have to drink what you make (around here, working at Starbucks is a status thing, half of them don't drink coffee). Yes, some people would disagree with me, but that's okay!

Don't feel too guilty about it, enjoy it!

I am not feeling guilty at all. And I get the small size too. I might get starbucks every 2 weeks or so. I am not a coffee drinker at all and I have to be really in the mood to have coffee.

Glad I am not addicted to it either. That's rather sneaky of them isn't it. We had a great little place down the way that gave Starbucks a run for their money but their disappeared for some reason. I miss their Italian soda's.

And I agree with you the mom and pop places are better.

Again since you have yet to find your humor, I was joking.

I love Starbucks and have a latte with skim milk about once a week, on my way to school.

Aversion therapy worked for me on kicking my Starbucks habit- I drank ALOT of it on a road trip my girlfriends and I took to NYC, NJ, DE and MD. I got REALLY sick (from the heat, not from the coffee) but the taste of it makes me remember being so violently ill and I can't stand it now. LOL!

MMMmmmmmm, I love coffee. Since the beginning of the year, I've found my love with Americanos. We don't have a Starbucks close, but we have a wonderful Mom&Pop shop just down the street from me... and on my way to work, how convenient!

I've cut way back, but I still get me a couple coffees a week out of the house.

My one indulgence ---- (okay so one of my many indulgences) is fresh ground coffee every morning.

coffee and alcohol are the 2 things I will allow myself unlimited amounts of. Starbucks especially. But I always get nonfat.

Right now I'm into nonfat cinnamon lattes but I have nonfat, nowhip caffe mochas when PMS'ing.

BF has a $1100 espresso machine so he makes me Starbucks like drinks when I'm over at his place.

About 3 weeks ago I set a new record by going to Starbucks for 7 days straight.

No, I am not an addict. heh.

Even though I should avoid caffeine, I can not kick my coffee habit.
