I know exactly how you feel, but this is what I'm trying to do these days...I'm trying to totally NOT focus on the results. I'm exercising every day and eating more healthfully, and telling myself THAT is the goal. I have a really screwed up metabolism so I lose REALLY slowly, and so many times I've fallen off the wagon because things aren't happening fast enough. This time I keep saying "Even if I never lose a single pound, this is worth it. My life will be improved because I will be healthier, and have more energy." I won't tell you I've been perfect with that, but I've written it down where I can see it, and I just keep telling myself that. The really GOOD thing is that if my only goal is to get through the day doing the 'right' things, then I can feel like a success every single night! Also, why don't you try making a list of all the things that you've succeeded at or done well in your life? If you have trouble getting started, ask your friends and family. You might find it gives you are real boost seeing how many things you've ALREADY succeeded at!!

I keep on going. I tell myself that if I keep eating well and exercising I will lose the weight. Then I read either a book on dieting or success stories and tell myself if others can do it then I can do it. I also take a look at what I am doing and see if I can make a change that will help me lose faster or if I am being unreasonable about my expectations. Then start telling myself That I can do it and I will lose weight. What is going on to make you feel that way? sharla

When I feel discouraged, about diet or anything else, I try to get out into the sunshine. No sunshine? Then just get out and do something, anything I enjoy. Have you seen the movie Tuscan Sun? It's on video now, and I enjoyed that immensely.

Under the Tuscan Sun was an excellent movie- I have to agree with you there. My husband usually doesn't care for movies along that vein, but he even thought it was pretty good.

One of the things I do is take my measurements. Right now I am only weighting myself once every 2 weeks. I was becoming a little addicted to the thing. Anyway I do my cardio in front of a mirror and there are days when I wish I could see the results in the mirror. so the other day I took the tape measure and measured my hips. Just my hips and I had lost a 1/2 inch. now I know that doesn't sound like much but since I only started exercising seriously on March 8th I thought that was very encourageing. I will have a friend take my full measurements on April 1st or there abouts. My measurements haveen't changed since November 1/03.

thanks everyone for their comments =)

A few comments..i think i am feeling this way caus the first month it seemed as if i could see a change and lately i don't. I take body measurements weekly along with weigh in and post on my webpage so it's good to check that out and see how i've decreased..lol..but STILL i want to see a difference and can't yet. I guess i just need to be patient and i'm not. O well just feeling sorry for myself.

hey girl how arew you. i have often found myself in this same position since starting my weightloss journey. it is hard to stay focused at times. i pray or listen to some gospel music that helps at times. i also found that talking with people within my support group (friends and family) help because i can talk to them about what i'm feeling and that helps me stay focused also.
