Had a bad day today!!!!

This is the first week I have been eating around 1100 calories a day. Plus exercising atleast 40 minutes everyday. I eat the same thing every day. I am a vegetarian so it's hard to find variable things to eat that are healthy/low in calories, that I can afford. Here is my normal calorie content

Breakfast 0 calories (I'm not hungry at breakfast)

Lunch 175 calories

Dinner 675-725 calories

Snack 200 calories

I am not hungry throughout the day except for at mealtime, so I don't have many snacks. My snack is dry cereal. I have lost 10.5 pounds this week, as of this morning.

Today I did a bad thing and went out with a friend who is also dieting. We decided to have two slices of pizza each. We used to each eat 3 slices, plus mozzarella sticks and cinnamon sticks. We each ate one slice and we were full. So we each got our additional slice to go and had it later. As soon as I got home I hopped on the scale immediately to see the damage and from this morning I had lost 2.5 pounds. That just didn't make sense. So I checked again, and it was the same.

I had felt SO guilty about having pizza. Why was it that I ate more today, than I have all week daily and I lost weight. I do NOT plan on doing this everyday....lol. As I doubt I would have the same results. Was just curious, why eating that would help.

Thanks

Can I make some suggestions? Someone told me once to eat breakfast like a queen, lunch like a princess, dinner like a pauper. Translated, eat the largest meal early in the day, next largest lunch, smallest dinner. It does a few things: keeps you from getting hungry all day long, jump starts the day, and the majority of calories are burned throughout the day. Works for me, and you may want to consider it. Secondly, I'm not vegetarian but in recent months it seems I'm eating more and more like one and I find it not only enjoyable but very easy to lose weight eating "vegetarian style." Some ideas, have you tried the Cascadian Farm brand of frozen bagged veggie meals? I love the Morrocan with couscous, and four kinds of beans, and lots of other good stuff including raisens. Other than that, it's just so much fun to experiment with new vegetarian recipes I've been finding....and you can eat a WHOLE LOT of veggies for less calories than a 4 ounce piece of meat. In fact, it's hard to eat that much I'm finding.

And next time you get a hankering for pizza, why not take a portabello and use that for "crust" (20 calories for a HUGE one) and then put on all the toppings and spices you enjoy. Easy on the cheese, heavy on the misc veggies, but heck if you do it that way you'll probably find you can use more cheese than you really want on it anyway! Good luck.

Another way to make a very tasty, low calorie, high nutrient pizza is to use a high fiber whole wheat pita. It's like 150 calories and 8 grams of fiber...load it with a little sauce, cheese, and tons of veggies!! And that way you get the fiber and some protein (since whole wheat products are higher in protein...these in particular have 10 grams of protein). I just LOVE it. I always keep sauce in my fridge on hand for making quick pita pizza! With the sauce, veggies, and cheese, it ends up being a meal for under 300 calories and has more than 10 grams of fiber! :) Good stuff! Plus you get lots of veggies servings in. Add a nice salad and voila! A quick, healthy meal high in fiber, vegetables, and adequate in protein. A friend of mine keeps the pre-cooked chicken on hand and uses it on her pita pizzas for extra protein. I don't eat a ton of meat, so I don't. But it's an idea.
