Yay! As some of you know I do a lot of genealogy research.

I found a Yahoo messageboard that has information on my Shreve ancestors and I just found out a whole TON of information on that side, including learning the Shreveport Louisiana was founded by an entrepreneur/inventor relative and they're having a Shreve reunion there in 2005. Also in 2005 is the tricentennial of the Second Congregational Church in Greenwich, CT which I would like to attend because my Mead/e ancestors helped build it and were founding fathers of that town. All of this had me giddy!

PLUS! I received in the mail from a genealogist (distant cousin/friend) a picture of my gr gr grandfather Ingram. It's from the 20's. I never really knew my Ingram family, and this picture absolutely thrilled me. The same genealogist/friend has sent me marriage records and tombstone pics, but this is the first actual picture I have that I can hold in my hand and it's so precious to me.

Thanks for letting me share. It's going to be a great day!

that’s great mel!!

I like looking into my family’s history to especially the Hispanic side… I found out some years ago my maiden name is not my actual maiden name we don’t even know what it would be… turns out my great great great grandmother was a witch doctor who married 12 times after getting married she conceived a child each one of her husbands died of food poisoning after conception and she in turn gave all her babies the last name of her first husband…. CREEPY!!! Lol so we don’t know what husband is the actual father of my line of family lol so I pretty much stopped there in fear of what else I might find out lol Desiree

Are you kidding! That would make me dig harder! LMAO!

You can email me if you want and I will see if I can dig up any resources for your name. If nothing else you may be able to find birth or marriage records that would give you a reasonable timeline. Or, as I have been fortunate enough to do, you may find distant relatives with supplemental information. I've gotten very lucky with my friend/relative because he lives near the area where our common ancestors lived, and when he has business work in those areas he goes and looks up info, copies it, and shares it with me. He's REALLY great about it. I've found on my husband's line a SERIOUS genealogist who has also shared records and info with me.

Mel, that's so awesome! That's information that you'll be able to pass on to your kids someday, too. How precious. I can imagine how excited you must be to have that picture of your gr gr grandfather. I know I would treasure something like that. I've thought of looking into my family tree, also. My sister actually has already done a lot of work on it. She found out all kinds of interesting things about our past. It's so much fun to do stuff like that. I'm glad you're having so much luck with it.
