Hello,

I would like to lose close to 100 pounds. I weight 230 right now and I am only 5 feet tall.

I have been doing the South Beach for 4 weeks, but had to take my self off of it today. I have gotten so sick on it. My blood sugar is way low ect. I still think its a good diet, but I guess not the right one for me :-(.

Now I am at a lose at what to do... was looking in THE ZONE.

I am going to my doctor tomorrow to have him check me for reactive hypdglycemia. So I am wondering how is everyone else losing weight so well?

I'm counting calories (trying to keep my daily intake around 1800 a day) and exercising about six hours a week. I'm losing about 1-1.5 pounds a week.

Since you're going to your own doctor, ask while you're there and perhaps he'll put you on the plan that's best for your own health situation. I just count calories, do a little exercise, etc...the usual. No one else's plan, but then I don't have your health issues either.

I do Atkins, and have been doing really well with it. Significantly cutting carbs has had a huge impact on me because I am insulin resistant and the carbs were really doing me in.

Hi there! I tried South Beach this summer and gave up on it. It didn't make me ill, but I couldn't stick to it. Like you say, EVERYONE needs to find what works for THEM. In my case, I've tried all kinds of plans, but only now am finding success, and you may be surprised what plan I'm on :-) I'm just eating healthier - trying to get enough water and veggies, and avoid junk food, etc. Every week I set myself a new "mini-goal" - either to make sure that I get enough fruits and veggies, or to eat at least 3 small meals and a snack, etc. I'm not sure WHY this is working for me, but - knock wood - I feel great and think I can keep it up. I've never done the Zone - it sounds like too much work to figure out.

Hi,

I have been following a NO SUGAR, NO FLOUR plan and it works! I have lost 10+ lbs in over 2 weeks time. I still can have 4 fruits a day so I am not doing Atkins, but no processed sugar at all! Basically alot of grilled chicken, salads, tuna, oranges, grapefruit, sugar free jello, lean meat, boars head meats, lots of water and walking at least 3-4 times per week and I feel better than ever, never hungry (no sugar will do that to ya) More energy than before and I feel GOOD!

For me Carbs is what made me fat and crave and sick, sugar is the worst thing you can put in your body, it has no nutritional value and can cause many health problems...

Good luck on any plan you feel is right for you!

Thanks for all the information. I guess it just goes to show that everyones body is different and needs a different way of eating. I will talk my doctor today about what is the most healthy way that I can lose weight at a reasonable speed.

Thanks again
