can anyone tell me how many blocks equal a mile. i'm not quite sure if it's 8blks or more=a mile. i plan to go walking a least a mile.

There are short blocks and there are long blocks. Then there are Y intersections and differences in block lengths in Topeka, Toulouse, and Tokyo.

For accuracy, I think driving in a car along a few walking routes is the way to go. Or get a pedometer and calculate it to your stride that way. For me, I can usually count on a 20 minute walking mile--not as slow as a stroll, but not nearly as fast as a jog. So for one mile, I would walk from my starting point for 10 minutes, then head back.

i agree with the other poster. Drive and check or get a pedometer. Have fun =)

I agree with what the others said here. Where I used to live 14 blocks was a mile, here I would wager maybe 6 because they are massive. (I am counting one street as a block not the whole square). Take your car and get a good estimate.
