New to the boards

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am new to the boards. I don't even know if I am posting this in the right place, if not please forgive me. Anyways, I am currently bordering 347 pounds and desire to lose about 140 pounds within a year and a half. The reasons I want to lose this weight are so I can feel more comfortable with myself, and be more active in my child's life. I hope to be down to 247 by October, wether or not that is an attainable goal I don't know, but it is my goal. I have tried dieting in the past and never had much success. I now see my obesity as a result of food "addiction" and I plan to treat it as if it were a drug addiction. I have to stop eatting things that are bad for me and will eventually kill me. LOL I know it may seem silly to take it that serious but that is how I have to look at it in order for "healing" to occur. I started a new eatting plan, etc. on Monday. The difference between this time and the last umpteenth times I tired to change my lifestyle is 1.I am open to support from others, because I have realized I can not do this alone and 2.I am setting more realistic goals for myself. I look forward to crossing paths with some of you on my journey to reclaim my former self! I welcome or (need) any feedback, comments, advice, encouragement, constructive criticism, or conversation you have to offer. Thanks in advance.

Hi Michelle..and your "food addiction" is so true....it is an addiction for me as well . I am actually journaling about it and someday when my goofy SO gets frontpage back for me I will put it online .

Anyways this isn't about me DOH..lol...I want to welcome you to the board and I hopw you can come here for a source of support . We have all become a pretty tight knit community and you are welcome to join in!!!

So if I may be so nosey what eating plan re you on or have you just made one yourself? Either way you can do this!! It is a tough journey..dont let anyone lie and say it will be a breeze...you are changing YOU ultimately and will be a new person in a sense .You will find lots of inspiration here as we have a few girls at or very close to goal . I cant wait to hear more from you ! HUGS

*Hugs back* Thanks alot for responding to my post, it means alot. I really don't have a specific diet right now. I am just trying to eat foods with no or low-fat, drink lots of water, use fruits and vegetables as snacks, and keep it right at 1200 calories. I will begin working out (walking on the treadmill at the gym) 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week next month. For now I just walk 2 laps around the high school track. I just started this new plan of mines Monday, long time huh? LOL, this really feels different from my previous attempts though. I have not been giving in to cravings and I have actually found myself "fuller" eatting this way. I hope I can hang in there. I really think this board will be a great benefit to me. Michelle

Hi and welcome!!! Glad to see your post. I too am fairly new here. Seeing how others cope with their weight problems and how it affects other areas of life-it gives me encouragement for my own struggle and I think it will you too.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.
