Blew the Weekend

So I went away for the weekend. And I feel like I blew my diet to hell. I was doing so well, and even for Saturday breakfast I was sticking to it. Then the roommate and I went thrift-store hopping on Saturday and ended up having lunch at SubWay. Not a bad choice compared to other choices, but I ended up having an Atkins wrap with mayo and dijon horseradish sauce, cheese, and no vegetables. As yummy as it was, I don't think it helped me on the weight-loss quest. I ate healthily for dinner, but I had no fruit all day and only 2 servings of vegetables, not to mention the fact that my starch allotment happened in the evening, when supposedly carbs turn into nasty blobs of fat...I call it "The Witching Hour." Who knows what the truth is about that though. Then on Sunday I ate a healthy breakfast, but the roommate and I went out again and ended up at Applebees where I ordered the grilled honey chicken (not so bad, but sweet and probably loaded with sugar and sodium) with a side of steamed vegetables that were cold so they stayed on the plate, and a side of mashed potatoes and garlic bread...again, carbs past The Witching Hour, no fruits, and no vegetables. For dinner I had a nutritional supplement, 3 almonds (not on the diet at this point), and a Boca Burger with cheese (cheese-not on the diet yet). And the water thing? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it didn't happen this weekend as I enjoyed two diet Cokes. So I'm supposed to weigh-in this morning and am dreading it knowing that I probably will have GAINED instead of lost weight. And to top it off, I'm going home to my parents house for Easter, and I come from a Southern family that just loooooves to eat. Please, guys--some encouragement spread over in this direction would be lovely. :) Wish me luck on today's weigh-in. I'll let you know how it goes.

Amanda, it doesn't sound like you did all that bad this weekend. Believe me, when I'm bad, I'm a lot worse than that! And I'm guessing here, but you probably did a lot of walking and burned most of it off. I'll bet your weigh in won't be as bad as you think. But if it is, just remember we all need a break once in a while. This past weekend was yours, so now hopefully it's out of your system and you'll be back on track. Good luck on your weigh in!

I agree with Linda. You didn't do as bad as you think. You actually enjoyed some down time as well as make some good choices.

Enjoy your fun weekend and get back into the groove today.

So you enjoyed yourself this weekend. Even those of us trying to lose weight deserve that, and you could have done a whole heck of a lot worse. Don't let guilt get you down. Turn it into motivation by burning it off with five extra minutes of workout or an extra serving of vegetables. A change in your diet for one weekend doesn't have to be the norm. I'm sure your weigh in won't be as bad as you think! Good luck Amanda and keep up the great work!!!
