he had his sisters and a nephew on there as well as a few people talking about their weight loss so far. Just wondered if anyone else watched it. Their losses so far were very high, seemed a little outlandish to me..lol

I had to work today so I didn't see it. It sounds interesting, though. I'd like to hear more about it.

Does "IT"(the troll) love or hate Dr. Phil?...I guess, fortunately, I've missed most of those posts!

Have a great evening all!

The troll LOVES Dr. Phil. Let's us know that if we'd just devote ourselves to Dr. Phil all of our problems would be solved, and that it's only common sense and we must be too dumb to realize that Dr. Phil is our savior and we wander in the dark without him.

I'm kind of on the fence with Dr. Phil. I do not like or dislike him, but take him with a grain of salt. I AM a bit skeptical of him, however. Apparently, his show is for 'entertainment only' and 'should not take the place of a doctor's advice or care' and so on. Despite him being an overnight phenomenon, would this have happened if Oprah wasn't pushing so hard for him ? I mean, it seems like the whole world is in love with Oprah and will go along with whatever she advocates. (Remember Medifast?).

There is something about Dr. Phil that faintly smells of him dabbling in areas that he should not dabble in, and although I wouldn't call it outright phoniness, there is something that smacks of insincerity about him.

And personally I think he's a pompous windbag. But hey, if he's helping someone, who cares what I think ? As long as he's not harming people or emptying wallets with false hopes, fine.

Just my 2 cents. Hope I did not insult or infuriate anyone.

well it had one guy who lose over 100 lbs in 5 months and his sisters had been on program for 7-8 weeks and 1 had lost 30+ lbs. forget the amount of other sis but it was more. His nephew weighed in the 400-500's i forget which but he's lost a lot in the few weeks he's been on too.

Saw someone replied to the last dr phil post from months ago by a trollie which got me thinking about it and flipped through to see what his show was about today and it was on weight loss again. I want to read his book but my library doesn't have it and i don't feel like spending $ on it.

I don't like Dr. Phil Good at all. I think his type of bubble gum psychobabble is offensive.

Want me to tell you what I really feel? :)

I don't agree with his stance that being overweight is an emotional and/or psychological dilemna. I know in my case it is not and I do not appreciate his grouping me into that theology. I know who I am and I am not lying to myself about anything about who I am.

I will agree with him that you need to be ready to lose weight and when you are ready to set up goals and go for it. However, not everything revolves around an emotional issue.

No, I didn't see the program. But I do know that the *challengers* on the Dr. Phil program have been very successful. More power to them!

ITA. Psychobabble was PRECISELY the word I was looking for. I feel he preys on people to some extent. And yes, I find him smarmy and offensive to some degree.

Ok, it's OBVIOUS I don't like him. Let's just hope the folks he helped lose weight can keep it off. Hell, kudos to ANYONE who loses weight and keeps it off.
