Any Suggestions for Good Sources Of.....

Just wondering if anyone could suggest good sources of protein in the morning? I don't get up until about 10 or so and my fiance comes home for lunch at 11. I need to eat something small beacuse lunch is so close, but I am always shakey so someone suggested to eat protein in the morning. Someone told me to buy the lemon zest Luna bars, but that thing almost made me hurl! I broke one of my rules and told my fiance to pull in the drive through for a soda to get that taste out of my mouth and I tell you that it didn't work fast enough!!! I am just looking for something that I don't have to cook.....I have no dishwasher which means that my dishes get replaced before they would get washed. Any suggestions????

Also, how do some of you that post menus hardly eat anything??? I tried to eat smaller portions and salads, but I just got so shakey and sick and the migrains were the worst!!! I just don't get how you hardly eat anything and feel fine with no fatigue???

So it sounds like you have low blood sugar...In addition to eating protein in the morning - try low fat yogurt with a handful of nuts thrown in, or whole grain bread toasted with peanut butter on it - also have a protein snack before bed. It will help keep blood sugar stable. Keep a few hard boiled eggs on hand in the fridge, too.

Hope this helps!

I don't eat much meat, so for my morning protein I often eat lowfat cottage cheese. It's a good source- I picked up that habit in pregnancy because I felt bad about not eating much meat. Also morningstar farms makes good microwaveable veggie sausage. It;s really good, just don't go into it expecting it to taste like "real" sausage, think of it as a whole new food. I'm actually not sure how much it tastes like real sausage since I haven't had it since I was 12 years old (went vegetarian then, it lasted about 10 years, I now eat turkey or chicken once or twice a week). Turkey bacon, yogurt & eggs (already mentioned, I know) are also good.

Nuts are a great source of protien...peanut butter or just plain old nuts.

If you hard boil some eggs you can keep them around for a quick snack.

I can't rememeber the last time I got to sleep until 10...lol. But then again, I went and had a kiddo who likes to get up at 7 or 8 (which compared to some I can't complain...lol).

What time do you go to bed? Maybe you need to get up a little earlier and have a snack so your body doesn't run out of "fuel"? I notice when I have an early dinner and then don't get to eat right away after I get up I don't feel like myself...maybe a little shakey but it's hard to say because that hasn't happened in awhile.

Hope you find something that works for you...

Thank you for the suggestions....lol, it won't work for me since i don't like yogurt, peanut butter or eggs. I guess I will just keep looking for something else to eat.

well, this is horrible to admit, but my son does wake up before me....at 6:30 every morning. i just can't stay awake if i have to get up early. i was going to bed at 9 for a while, then it went to 10, 11, 12 and then about till 1 or so, but each time, i still slept until 10am. i have just always been one of those people that can't get a routine with sleep.....i could go to bed every night at 9:30 and get up at 6am for nearly half the year and i will barely be able to stay awake and then i have to take naps because if i don't then i get migrains and the only way to get rid of them is to sleep......also when i go to bed, it takes me a few hours to fall asleep. i have been like that for as long as i can remember. oh well. i guess i will just keep to drinking water and tea and just try to find food that works for me since i don't like peanut butter or eggs.

i'd ask your doctor for ideas and when you eat healthier maybe it will help with your sleeping. The whole shaking thing isn't right. Are you keeping yourself hydrated? The only time i've had the shakes(not sick) is when i was dehydrated at a state fair.

How old is your son? your name suggests 2? if so you really need to get up when he does. That's way to young to be left alone while you sleep, keep him up til you go bed or wake up when he does and have him go to a daycare and take a nap. There's been plenty of times when my dd was younger when she'd wake up and i'd be tired and thought of going back to bed but then i remember i am a parent and that always comes first. An occasional nap on the couch while they watch a show is one thing but sleeping in for a few hours is wrong in my opinion. My dd is 6 and i've just started letting her wake up before me and watch a show before she wakes me up if i'm not feeling well.

How about an apple and cheese. There is also no reason you can't eat something other than breakfast food for breakfast.

Just think of where protein comes from, and then choose something you like to eat. How about a cup of yogurt. Or some cheese, or peanut butter on toast? What would you like to eat?

I love tofu and other soy products for protein.

Well...what about other nuts...like almonds or cashews or something? Sunflower seeds are good too. Or get some sort of a trail mix type snack. I mean really, ANYTHING with some protien in it is going to help. And even if you wake up with your son and just have quick snack of something and lay down again that might help.

I hope you can figure this out...even pre-cooking some chicken or other meat that you can just microwave real quick and keep it in the fridge (or freezer) so it's fast. I don't know what else to suggest...
