How do you know? Everyone who buys car insurance, especially in Michigan since she indicated it's her state, pays for irresponsible drivers who don't use seatbelts.
I ask because I have yet to meet a mother (not, of course, that they don't exist) who puts her child in a car without buckling them in. Why? Because they know that buckling them in can save their child's life. Is your child's life worth more than your own? I see not buckling your seatbelt as equivalent to saying "it doesn't matter if I die". All the evidence is strong and irrefutable, fewer people die when seatbelts are used. It does matter if you die, if you leave this earth prematurely, and potentially avoidably, you leave a hole that your family can't hope to fill. I love my family and myself enough to take the small effort to buckle my seatbelt just in case.
