I haven't posted a lot to this board but just first of all wanted to say howdy to my Atkid friends, Rely and Sarah. Boy Rely you sure can stir things up can't you, LOL. I agree with Sarah about the excerise. I work 2 jobs and am a wife and mother. So between all four jobs there is no time for a regular exersice routine. I have lost 55 pounds. I also make my children buckle up and we eat wheat bread. LOL, I don't wear my seatbelt either, Rely. I think the government already tells us way more than they should on how to behave. :-) Stephanie 280/225/170 Atkid since 6/15/2003
I will say that I am glad I started to excersize more as I lost more weight lately. Especially toning my upper arms. Don't want those 'Bat wings', or as Kyle puts it, 'Bye-bye flappers'.
On second thought, it would be neat to glide like a flying squirrel.
oh sure you can lose weight by not exercising. Haven't we all proved that one time or another? Remember cabbage soup diet ?? I mean I know people that eat nothing but protein and animal fats (fried egg and bacon for breakfast, but no slice of toast!!) and lose weight without going to the gym. I think the question we ought to ask ourselves: Can I maintain my weight loss w/o exercise? I don't know the stats but a huge majority of people who lost weight and kept it off make exercise a regular routine. Calorie intake vs outgoing is definitely true. (science lab rat here!!) Let's face if, if all you had was a slice of cake once day and no exercise, you would lose weight. But like someone said earlier, eat food and you'll gain that weight back.
So why do I/we exercise then ?? If our only goal was to lose weight, then why bother ?? I mean there are a number of surgeries we could have, number of diets to go on. I bother b/c it's not just about the weight loss. It's about the entire package: mental/physical. I feel better about myself and the world when I exercise. I'm doing something positive for just me. I spend my day helping out everyone else, from bosses to husband and for that 30-40 min block of my day, I do something for myself. And the hardest part: Admitting I'm worth the effort. I would think nothing of cooking dinner for family, helping with homework, doing everyone's laundry (even I didn't need anything). But exercise?!? To get into the groove I had to change my thinking from oh great more work for me to hey this is my time for me.
Ok I'm rambling off course here :) Bad habit !! I think yes you can lose weight w/o exercise.
