so I have a question...

Why is there so much animosity toward "skinny people" on this board?
I don't understand why people have no problem saying how snotty and judgemental skinny people are when they are being just as snotty and judgemental *toward* skinny people.
Why do you hate what you want to become? how do you know that skinny person isn't a formerly fat person? How do you know they are looking at you disgusted?
I know it's hard to imagine but skinny people have just as many body issues as fat people. It took me a long time to realize that...for a long time I wanted to smack the girls that said, "I hate this belly" as they lifted their shirt to reveal a perfectly fine "belly". But as women, we are taught to aim for unattainable perfection that doesn't exist.
I just think it's funny that so many people have a problem with skinny people when it is our goal to become "skinny".
JMHO...

I think Sarah is referring to posts such as http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-fb100plus&msg=115217.1 and http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-fb100plus&msg=115217.2 where people are expressing frustration at "skinny" people who have pissed them off, not necessarily the trolls.
I agree Coffee.
You have proven my point for me with that post (and the reply to that post).
The first line of the OP (after a disclaimer that she'd probably get blasted)

So far your supporters have been:
Give it time, I'm sure this post will turn into a great debate.

I understood the frustrating circumstances the poster was experiencing, but bringing in the body size and making disparaging remarks regarding it can come across as animosity towards "skinny people".
I completely understand what the trolls are trying to accomplish--they just want to sow the seeds of discord, belittling, baiting and acting superior, then step back and watch the resulting "train wreck". I didn't think at all that you were saying the trolls were blasting skinny people.
Sorry if my prior post wasn't clear--accurately expressing what one is trying to say can be a pain in the rear sometimes!
Do you think losing weight is challenging? I'd love to see your introduction post. I must have missed it. Although I know you haven't been here "that long" *wink wink nudge nudge*
So, tell us about your challenges and how you've overcome them. Have you gotten past your poor upbringing? Have you gotten past blaming your parents for everything that's wrong in your life? How are you dealing with your over-excessive use of parenthesis (by the way)? That was you who posted she had those problems, right?
So share with us, please. We really know so little about you *smile*

I am sorry if I offend anyone with my humor. It just felt like the debate could use a little levity.

Nope, I think you read them right:
You and I just interpreted the original post in this thread differently, I suppose. I saw this thread as saying, "Why are you bashing skinny people since you should be looking up to them?" which I think is total BS.
Now, I always think it's a good idea to be as nice as you can to people IRL, but I also think that a support board like this should be a safe place to vent some frustrations.
It's all good *smile*

Heya, Furry! Great to see you purring away here!
Right on, sister. You said it and good! Two thumbs up.
I've been keeping up with you here, and itching to jump in. I had the day off and just couldn't resist.
(We went to the Humane Society this afternoon and may be coming home with another furry feline AND another dog soon!)
