OT- Prayers needed

This afternoon Rob received a call from his National Guard Unit. He's officially on alert. He's been told to get all of his gear and paperwork together. Will, POA, ATM Card etc. His physical was scheduled for August and now that has been pushed up to this weekend. This was supposed to be a normal weekend, but now he's been told to bring an overnight bag and to be prepared to stay. This "feels" entirely different from when he was activated as security after 9/11. I would appreciate a prayer for his safety if you have a chance.

Love,

Mel

I am so glad I have ignored this person and I can longer see their posts.

Rob,

Truly my friend just ignore it. What better way to downplay the significant and important position you are in? Our National Guard has a very important job as well and that is to stay behind and protect the country from the outside forces that may come. You are just as important to this country and Her defense as the active men and women in the other branches.

You are too aweosme of a person to allow someone filled with such self loathing to bait you.

This is not meant to take anything away from the Army Reserve or Active Army, I just want to show how underrated the National Guard really is.

Here are some Army National Guard stats provided by, www.virtualarmory.com.

The Army National Guard has 32.5% of The Army Combat Service Support Force Structure.

The Army National Guard has 36% of The Army Combat Support Force Structure.

More than 60,000 Army Guard personnel were called to active duty for the Gulf War

The ARNG is more than 350,000 members strong - with armories and training facilities in more than 2,800 communities.

70% of the Army's Field Artillery Battalions are in the Army National Guard.

54% of the Army's Engineer Force Structure is in the Army National Guard.

45% of the Army's Mechanized Infantry forces are in the Army National Guard

49% of the Army's Air Defense Artillery assets are in the Army National Guard.

52% of the Army's Infantry Battalions are in the Army National Guard.

100% of the Army's Scouts are in the Army National Guard.

The Army National Guard is 38% of the The Army Force Structure.

The other 62% of the Army Force Structure is divided between Active Army and Army Reserve units.

Since WWII 40-60% of the soldiers deployed to each conflict or war were National Guard soldiers.

I personally know close to 200 people currently serving in Iraq. My thoughts and prayers go out to members of the 1460th TC, 1462nd TC, the selected members of the 1461st Combat HET TC, as well as all others serving our country.

Think about it though...how big of a force must stay behind to protect our shores??

I personally think we need to have a force that big here for our protection.

Feel free to debate with me (though I won't see it since all those messgages are deleted) but to belittle anyone who is making the choice or the US has made the choice for them to stay here is negating the service they are still doing their country. You must also belittle the police, fire, coast guard, etc as well

Really? What National Guardsman would you be referring to? Because I don't know of any who don't want to go fulfill his obligations. One wasn't brought up, one was never mentioned. You're just trying to cause problems, as usual.

You have no right to criticize Shawna, or to heap "shame" upon anyone. There was no lack of sympathy for her sister's situation. It was simply pointed out that, like you, she's off track, and possibly in need of assistance with her reading comprehension. That's all I can think of that could possibly explain your tireless devotion to NOT READING A POST IN IT'S ENTIRETY AND MAKING SOMETHING OUT OF IT IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE.

Good point, Karrie.

And because of constant rotations of active soldiers, guardspeople, and reserves we are able to have protection here and abroad.

If it does debate with you, you won't be missing anything. It' not like it's response will have anything to do with your post.

Hugs,

Mel

You are probably more correct than anything. I just think it is so sad to beat up on anyone who is protecting us. But you know this is the same persona that called me fat, has belittled others who have lost something or someone dear to them, why would I even think this thing would be decent about someone protecting us here at home?

I for one am extremely grateful for all that the National Guard does whether it's here or abroad. Not everyone volunteers to be taken away from their loved ones and to put themselves in harm's way to protect their country. We should be grateful for ALL the men and women in the armed forces, National Guard included.

Rob, thank you for the sacrafices that you make. I hope you know that at least MOST of us appreciate it!
