Serena’s Really Bad Couple of Hours!

Crazy! Crazy! Crazy! Yikes! Yikes! Yikes!

Poor me and my poor kids. Things have just not gone right since I got my ds off the school bus a few hours ago. I thought I was on the right track,… I had dinner started by around 3 oclock so we could eat a good time. Got Alex off the bus. Brought him home did some homework (with lots of mischief in between). Ok then it’s supper time and that’s when the games begin. We sit down to supper, start eating etc. etc. Alex goes to get some more mac and cheese for himself and drops his plate and everything on it all over the kitchen floor. Ok we can handle that. He starts whining because he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty while picking up the mess… GRRR! He jumps up on the counter to get paper towels and doesn’t pay attention to what he is doing and knocks over a glass of water and a tall cup of coffee! So now we have this mess on top of the other one! ACKKKKKK!!!!! And all the while he isn’t following my directions to help me clean this up. He just keeps trying to argue with me and talk to me. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! I’m not really mad that he spilled stuff (annoyed yes) but accidents happen and as long as they get taken care of it’s ok. I get him another plate and go to sit down to eat. As soon as I sit down to take a bite, Lauren stands in her chair and immediately falls out of it and crashes head first into an open file cabinet drawer that is near the table!!!! POOR BABY! (she had gotten into the cabinet while I was cleaning the mess in the kitchen,… didn’t even notice it until the accident.)….. Oh gosh, her nose is bleeding and she’s crying, Alex is in my face asking what happened. Yadda yadda yadda. Anyway we get her all better. I give up on trying to eat supper by now! Ok bath time. Alex in one shower and Lauren in the other one. I was going to use this few minutes to recover from the recent dramas while they played in the showers. Just a few breaths later. GOOD LORD HELP ME! Alex’s shower over flows big time and he is just splashing around making the mess bigger. He’s been taught from a very early age DON’T GET THE FLOORS WET! He could have called for me at any time! Anyway I send him to get dressed… there was soooooooooo much water on the floor you wouldn’t believe! And this bathroom is CARPETED!!! And I live in a double wide and the subfloor is really bad quality and if you get it wet it basically starts sinking. I was literally scooping the water back into the shower with cupped hands…. I’m sure I got gallons out of that carpet. Then I used every available towel to try to dry it more… still it was wet. I’m sooooooo frustrated and mad! I send the kids to their rooms so I can finish cleaning it. I tried to blow dry the floor so it would dry as quickly as possible and then my blow dryer shorts out or something and it doesn’t work at all now!.... There are no windows that open in this bathroom. I hope it doesn’t do too much damage.

The kids are out of their room now and watching a video. I’m too stressed out to be sociable. I’m taking deep breaths, I know it was just an accident and I need to just get back to being nice. Ugh! I just feel so BLAH!

I can’t believe you read all that! Thank you! I had to tell somebody. Now maybe I’ll be able to go back to being nice again.

Take a long, deep breath, close your eyes, and remind yourself that "this too shall pass."

If you've got a floor fan put it in the bathroom, turn it on high, and aim it at the carpet. That might help to dry it out faster. Sorry your night was so crappy!

I can't help but chuckle. Whom of us mothers hasn't had that identical type of experience? Mine was two kids puking, a newborn screaming his head off, a dog that pooped on the floor, middle of the night--no husband around to help. I finally just sat down and cried. Now I laugh when I remember how horrible that night was--I still think I gave the dog the children's tylenol and put the baby to sleep in the dog basket---can't exactly remember :) Hope things get better and know I am feeling for you...KSAS

thanks girls. *sigh* i do feel better now. i think i'm going to try to keep the kids as still as possible for the rest of the evening. that way no one gets hurt. lol. after i wrote that rant i felt a little better. it just seemed to be piling up on me and on top of that i was HUNGRY! i went ahead and gave us some cocoa puffs for supper, lol. i'm filled up now and that definitly helps. (a little chocolate goes a long way, and is cheaper than professional therapy) i'm better now and if nothing else the carbs will tranquilize me! hehe

peace

Nope, no Wal Mart in the city. I think there's a KMart, but if there is then it's in a really bad part of town (and I'm not really sure it exists, anyway). You have to head to Metairie or Kenner (or across the river) to find a Wal Mart. When we lived there, we usually went to the one way out in Kenner, and we lived in the city. It was such a hassle that I saved up and only went every 6 months. Literally.

Glad Ike is feeling better.
