What's good about the diet you are on?

How did you pick the diet you are on? Why is it really appropriate for you? What is good about it and what is bad about it? (I know we've touched on this a bit, in terms of what KIND of diet we are on, and if we've ever changed programs, but I'm interested in hearing the pros and cons of several different diets. Besides...someone *ahem* recently suggested that we have more "diet related" talk :-)

Best thing about the "diet" I'm on is it's not a diet. It's a conscious **choice** to eat what's best for me and do what's best for me, and enjoy myself along the way. That's all.

As usual, you've chosen to address one part of the post without any real effort to discuss anything or answer the other questions asked. If you want to discuss your approach, fine - but make an effort to actually DISCUSS instead of spouting one-line pat answers.

Sorry I posted "wrong" - I didn't mean to clutter up the board, but I never thought of a poll and I didn't know that comments could be added into them :-( Anyway, I've tried South Beach but not Atkins, and I was wondering about your perspective on why Atkins might be better. My understanding is that South Beach is a little less restrictive than Atkins since it allows some "good" carbs (although the first couple of weeks are about the same) so I hadn't really thought that I'd be able to stick with Atkins long term.

I don't understand how that was a bad answer that forte gave?? I thought it was a great one personally! I say I am doing the Atkins "diet" but really it *is* just about making wise food choices.

I'm not attacking you...I just don't get why her answer was a bad one.

Sorry, Sarah...if it was anyone other than her, I'd agree with you 100% and I didn't mean to offend anyone (else). This poster is the one who logs on under various different user names to either attack people, or get in snide little digs. I'm sure you will see a pattern if you look at the majority of her posts - she is the one who is always saying that she is so much better than everyone else here because she simply makes good food choices, is never tempted, blah, blah, blah. She has insulted me on numerous occasion - for instance, my "unattended child" post where she said it was clear that I didn't really care about the child since I didn't "do" anything. At her worst, she attacked a poster who has lost 90 pounds, telling her that she "should" be able to lose 15 pounds a month and is a failure if she can't. Of course, she will deny any post that is not written under the name "forte", but that again is just part of her game. I've become rather over-reative, I fear and I should probably just ignore her. Sorry.

I think we've all become overly suspicious because of our board pet. I understand jumping the gun when it comes to her. It's like a mean kid at school who's suddenly sweet as pie to you- you WANT to believe it's because he/she's turned over a new leaf but in the back of your mind you know she's going to say or do something cruel.

You're awesome Sarah. I'm glad it's all straightened out.

No, Dana's right that there was a "tidier" way to do it :-)
