Hi - new to this board
| Sat, 04-17-2004 - 1:27am |
Hi, my name is Kathy and I love candy. Which is, I guess, why I am now here. I have just started to try a weight loss regime, inspired by my son. I really want to be able to run around with him and carry him everywhere (I am doing attachment parenting and my back hurts using the sling) and at the v e r y least, be able to get up from off the floor with him in my arms. When I found that hard to do, I decided that I had to change my candy eating ways.
So hi!
I'm a neuro RN when I am not full time Mommy. After the first year, I plan on going back. I love to read novels, medical texts and comic books. I collect salt and pepper shakers, purses and am trying to start up a collection of paint-by-number paintings. I am scouring the thrift stores for them. I'm a bit geeky, but really very sweet and hope that this board can help me in my journey of weight loss.
Kathy
stats 247/241/160
chest - 53
waist - 43
hips - 51
thigh - 30
arms - 16
(how humiliating when I had to write these numbers down. I figure the more I write them the more I face the reality of them....)

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
And congratulations! For your loss so far, for your honesty with yourself, for your courage in posting, and for your commitment to a healthier approach to life. This board gets a bit of negative attention from jellyfish trolls who have nothing better to do, but we have an IGNORE button that will take care of that if they bother you.
Hope to see you around and get to know you better.
Mel
ok, well thanks for the warning. The ignore feature is a shiny button awaiting it's first use.
and thank you for welcoming me. :)

I read your profile and I like you already! Wasn't "Freddy Got Fingered" a scream??
Anyone who can appreciate this movie and also reads books by Margaret Atwood is ok in my book! BTW, have you read "A handmaid's tale" yet? It's really good!

I new to this board also, well, at least new to posting. I've lurked around here for quite a while before I decided to jump in. I'm a former candy addict myself, but I'm refocusing (at least trying to) and now when I absolutely have to have chocolate I keep a couple of pieces of sugar-free chocolate around to help me through.
I thought I was being brave when I posted my stats, (added them, deleted them, then added them before I posted), lol! But you are a heck of a lot braver than me, and I applaude you posting your measurements as well. I just can't do that yet, but I will get there!
I think you'll really enjoy yourself here. The ladies (and gents) are really sweet and supportive, and have an awesome sense of humor. Aside from a limited few who get their jollies off trying to hurt others, it's a great board. I had to bite my tongue the other day (or would it be biting my fingers?) to keep from posting some basic manners lessons that the trollies should have learned in kindergarten, but so far I've behaved myself.
This is a great support group; hope you'll join in often!

thanks again!

p.s. palamino girl, i think freddy got fingered was the greatest dada movie ever made. right behind bunel's classics. he made me pee my pants at least twenty times. i couldnt see straight and kept hooting and pointing at the screen when he did the puppet/piano performance for his father.
and yes, i love the handmaid's tale. i take cat's eye as my favorite because the childhood was so vivid, but handmaid's tale was a fist in the face. as was alias grace. i see those two as similar.
