First one....why is it when we are the same weight as another we can't be in the same size of clothing? It is rather fustrating to see that and realize you can't wear that size. I think I am just way to curvy for my own good.

Second one....why do we have stores that make clothes for the fluffier than average women not cut the sizes true to size??? I hate LB for that reason. Still fumming over the fact I am in a 26/28 shirt in that silly store when I know I am a size 16/18 in the big designers. Look at that difference. HUMPHING

Third one....fiber is evil. I don't care if it is good for you. My tummy is rebelling and let me tell you it's winning the battle. Nothing I want to eat is sitting well but bread is. YEAH AND JOY. Sheesh coke is the only thing keeping it from going into a full assault.

How tall are you Sara? I am 5'71/2 ish....I would say large framed but thats such a cliche remark coming from the fat girl "Im just large framed" I hate saying that so I usually just say I am a medium frame..I wear a 91/2-10 shoe and if I wrap my fingers around my wrist they touch ..actually they almost overlap..and I think thats one of the things alot of people use to tell their frame size . So lets just say I am medium frame . My biggest "fat zones" are in my belly (only of late..its getting so fat :() and hips...I just got a roll on my back,..ON MY EFFIN BACK I TELL YA!! is that not nutts?!!??!!? I have to do soemthign I just cant seem to get off my a$$ and stay in something long enough...I've had so many epiphany's "OH MY GOD THATS ME..THAT HUGE WOMAN IN THE MIRROR IS ME!!" And I get on this big high falootin diet journey I say "ITS NOT A DIET ITS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE " :In a very nasal old lady voice:: well that lifestyle change never lasts more than a couple of weeks..I did really well on the WW but got bored after awhile . And Joe started talking about the whole WLS (weight loss surgery) and I was so against it..but then started reading on it...and got curious..I called my insurance and they cover it with medical necessity . I ccant do that however...not only do I not have the time to invest in the recooperation but I am scared to death that I will be that 1 in 200 that doesnt make it out of the hospital alive . I will lose the wieght in time I pray and when I am ready . ::sigh:: ok..as Mel put it Im off my soap box now..dont know where all that came from but it feels good to get it off my chest .

A,

I am an inch taller 5'8.5", I wear a sz 10 shoe, and I have that fat roll, I call it my fat-back sandwich(don't ask), and, the tip of my middle and thumb fingers touch around my wrist, but just barely--I AM large framed. That is why 155 is like, small for me. And don't worry girl, I have been going thru my supposed "life-style change" for 6 months, and I have only lost 30 lbs!! 5 lbs a month! What the CRAP?! I could lose so much more!! I just do not exercise and I keep eating crap! But oh well! We will thru it!

I am feeling really big by this conversation. It is really strange how some people can weigh so much more and wear a smaller size. I am 5'7.5, weigh 215 and wear a 22. I can fit into my 20's from Talbots, but they are way too tight. I am really limited on my brands since I have to order everything on line. I am also really big in my hips. When I was smaller I could wear a size 10 on bottom and a 6 on top. course all thats changed since I had my baby in Dec. Oh well, keep trudging away and I will get there some day.

I'm right there with you in the comfy clothes department. I am really into it, though...When I am home for the day, I wear jammies all day (they can pass if I need to run out )and i don't get dressed unless there is a compelling reason. I love sweats, jeans, jammies, my very cozy microfleece hoodie from Old Navy...It's a mens XL, so it's like having a blanket you can wear. I'm like a lizard when it comes to circulation - I need a hot rock to sit on.

And WTF is up with the larger a size is, the LONGER it is, like you can't be an 18 or 20 and 5'5. Some of this stuff is built for people 6'3 !!!! My friend Rebecca and I walked for over an hour tonite, and the size 18 track pants she had on were rolled up in the waist AND leg cuffs !

Baffling.

First, CONGRATULATIONS !!! Secondly, I agree with you about being tall and muscular - muscle weighs more than fat, and that stupid little thing called BMI is a bunch of hogwash. If you took Arnold Schwarzennegger (???Did I get it right???) and did not know what he looked like, but took his height and weight, on the BMI he is considered OBESE.

HOW foolish is THIS ??? We have all seen the man, he has muscles in his EYELIDS !

I also hoard alot of muscle, it's genetic and my calves are so hard it's scary. They are the only part of me that is pure muscle. My scary dietician wants to see me weighing 135 pounds. She wants EVERYONE to weigh 98 pounds. If you are like Zorbs and are less than 5'2, fine. I was 5'5 and 128 when I was a twelve year old ! At 135 I'd fall through my own @sshole and hang myself ! I'm wide, too. From the side I look 130 pounds. From the front, the Sheraton Plaza.

Clothing designers are either truly gifted, or are totally on crack. It's trial and error. I have been known to pitch fits of epic proportions while trying on clothes, ESPECIALLY when shopping with my mother.

Anybody with me on this one ????

I still break out in hives when trying on a bathing suit. THAT will never change. What IS IT about a bathing suit that can actually make you feel you look better naked ?

Oh, I totally agree ! How else can you have four different sizes in your closet, and everything fits ? I have also heard that manufatureres will cut items big, even though the industry standard is a size 8, and most forms and patterns are taken from there. I will agree that I do seem to have better self esteem when the numbers in my clothing are lower, and maybe someday I'll even see a single digit size. But it really doesn't matter. Are we healthy ? Happy? Not dying of anything ? Have all/most of our parts? I beat myself up less and less every day about my size, and I would be a LIAR if I said it was just due to maturity and self acceptance, and screw the rest of the world that thinks I'm fat. That is about 40%. The other 60% is directly due to my weight loss and feeling more confident about how I look and how others that I care about perceive me.

It's easier every day to become a shrewd and keen observer of myself, but it's a work in progress.

Cheers,

Amy

"Not a big deal that I can wear a size 16 in LB stretch denim but can't wear an 18 in LB regular denim. "

Does this not thoroughly piss you off ?

What is the DEAL WITH THAT !!!!!

So, because it's 'stretch', do we count this as our 'real' size, or do we need to go with traditional denim to ascertain our 'real' size ?

All of you in favor of determining size using Stretch jeans, say 'Aye' !!!

WA-GA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still haven't decided if I am ever going to even consider trying LB again. It rather fustrates me how off it is. It really irked me to see that size and the look that asinine silly little sales gave me when she saw the size. Like she had room to talk!! Of course my temper got the best of me and I blasted that thing out of the water. GRUMBLING

But then again I shop almost exclusively designer. I am not big on just laid back clothes and my profession doesn't allow for it. I have found that the cheaper the clothes the bigger the size.

Sorry, but I am going to be a snob and stay with my Lauren, Buchman, Tracy, etc. I find better clothes options at Macys, Nordstorms, and Lord and Taylor.

I so know what you mean, Amy! I'm 5'3" and it's so hard to find petites in my size. Even if I do, they are still too long sometimes. I've finally discovered LL Bean. They have petites in all sizes and they fit me good, too. The only gripe I have with them (as with most retailers) is that they charge you more for women's sizes. It's like, do they really use that much more material that they have to charge that much more? I'm at the smallest women's size now, and I can't wait to be in the misses just so that I can save a few bucks. What's up with that?
