....TELL ME HOW TO STOP THEM!!! It's really bad; I'm getting them literally every minute or less...pops up right in the middle of my screen and it's driving me INSANE! It totally interupts what I'm doing, and it takes me a lot more time to do stuff when I have so many interuptions :(

I'm pretty much a computer dummy, so any help would be appreciated; thanks!!

Those things drive me crazy, too! Most computers now have pop up blockers, but I'm not sure how to turn them on. Maybe someone here is more computer literate than I am?

I've got a pop-up blocker called "pow" that I was able to download free. It takes a little while to add pop-ups (every time I get one, I add it), but after a few days you've got most of the common ones entered and it works really well! here's a link I found http://www.webattack.com/get/pow.shtml

I use google toolbar when using IE (which is very seldom)

Just use a better browser, like Mozilla, IE is a piece of $hit.

exactly. we use www.mozilla.org and i never ever see popups. i dont have to register them, i just never see them. IE is wretched.

actually, we have not one microsoft program on our comp. we finally got rid of everything. and most of what we use is completely free and userfriendly.

You can set your security settings higher on your own computer, or you can get pop-up blocker software, some of it even free on the Internet. I'd recommend just setting your security settings a bit higher (under internet tools, top of your screen) and that should do it.

Thanks, I'm going to try it. Actually, I haven't seen any popups after my frusrated post, because I did some overdue updates and that seems to have stopped them. I just don't really know if all the updates were completed, because it would have taken forever for them to finish and I needed to use my phone, so I just cancelled it. But I haven't seen many popups since! Cool!
