Hey everyone:)

My husband is going to Ireland on business and I get to go along! I'm excited about traveling to europe, but not about Irish cuisine especially. I've heard that Irish food just sucks. No offense to the Irish here...LOL Anyone ever been there? Got any suggestions on what to eat while I'm there?

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Faith

That's wonderful! Have a great time, Faith. I've never been there, so I can't give you any advice. I'm so excited for you :-)

HOW EXCITING! I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Ireland! Actually, I've always wanted to travel to other countries, period, but I am obsessive about Ireland, especially since I started doing my family tree so thoroughly.

No offense taken- I like some Irish food, but not a lot of it. I think my favorite thing is soda bread.

You are going to have a FABULOUS time!

OMG! I'm so jealous! I have been dreaming of going to Ireland and Scotland. I'm largely of Irish and Scottish descent and would love to see the "motherland." I love everything celtic, I even have triskeles (celtic knots) on my wedding ring. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture of it in my siggy.

As for the food, I've kind of heard the same thing. Well, actually that's not true. I hear there are some really good meat dishes, but I'm not a big meat eater (I haven't had red meat since I was 11). I guess the good news is that you might lose some weight (provided you don't drink all your calories!). I went to Germany a few years ago and lost like 10 pounds in less than a week because I do not like German food. Of course, we went to Italy next and I was quickly reunited with the lost weight!

Take lots and lots of pictures to post!

Irish food is very good really. I've been there, and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. Keep an open mind and enjoy new things.

Ohhh, it sounds like you are going to have a great time! Haven't had the food, but I'd keep an open mind and try some authentic cuisine. I've heard some of the meat stews are good.

We're considering a horseback riding vacation, but we're still saving our pennies for it (maybe my reward when I reach goal? Hint, hint DH, lol!) Ireland is a strong contender. We looked at Equitours and they have many different selections for Ireland. Beautiful countryside.

Have fun, and make sure you take lots of pictures!

Have a carb freak-out for me and have some Guiness and soda bread with Irish butter...

I have been to England (majority of family lives there)and found it fascinating. Have a wonderful time !

"Irish food is very good really."

Please do share....give me some names of some typical dishes. I love trying something new. I can pull up recipies on the net and then plan the new meals for nights when Mel isnt around. She has to be the most picky eater I have ever met. Then again she loves the thought of going to Ireland someday. Maybe I could talk her into trying something new.

In fact if anyone has suggestions for something new/different let me know.
