(This is 'tina.)

You should have seen the t-shirts and stuff, too. They had alot of really rude and/or raunchy sayings on them. The only really tame ones were the Goddess soap and I got my daughter a "drama queen" lotion LOL When Shawna asked me where I got them, I knew she was thinking along the lines of Spencer's or something.

Hi Tina and Shawna! I have seen these little boxes of soap and some of the really bad ones...I don't think that they should be available to younger people, and I can't belive that Six Flags has this stuff. I mean, I usually see this stuff in more mature novelty shops, head shops, 'toy'shops....and not even our local Spencer's (original gag store) carries this stuff. (But they DO have Boob Chocolate)

Weird.

And Tina, even though I don't know you I am very happy you came to visit Shawna. She needed it...

I completely agree and that is why I had to ask her several times if it really came from a shop made for teens.

Our Spencers sells vibrators. Not the good ones, the icky metal ones. Who in their right mind would use a metal one!?!

That's ok though. We have a "Love Zone" shop here in my neighborhood that sells the "good stuff"! Lots of latex, jelly, and pvc. Everything you can imagine! Hmmmm, maybe a trip later in the day is in order...

Wow, unreal that Six Flags would sell that stuff!

But remember when we were teens? I was a teen in the late 70's and early 80's. I had tee-shirts that I would buy at our local head shop. I wore t-shirts that had pot leaves all over them and many marjuana and alcohol slogans on them. I was a bad teenybopper I guess, but back then we didn't have the scarey stuff the kids are into now. It was mostly just pot and liquor.

But I'm good now! Really! Just a six-pack for the weekend!

Well, this is a subject close to my heart since im trying to raise 3 "NICE" CHRISTIAN GIRLS. a few years back I was in the mall looking at kids undies for my then 6 year old. Guess what they had? leapard print freaking g-string underware. with matching training bra's. they were in a kids size 6.(the undies had "sexy" embroidered on it)who , except a pedophile thinks a 6 year old is sexy? This was in one of the big major dpt stores. Not some teen specialty shop. Im normally a fairly reserved person but i marched up to the counter and demanded to see the manager. I was a crazy women. I really let him have it. the manager was in total agreement with me.Took the wind from my sails as I was looking for a fight, lol. I got the address from him for the corporate office, went home composed a not so nice letter letting them know i wasn't going to ever shop in there again, if that was the kind of things they were going to push on a 6 year old little girl. I told my girlfriends, who having seen it there as well wrote their own complaints. Apparently a whole lot more moms were mad enough for the press to take notice and I saw several tv interviews being done inside several other stores carrying the same product. within a few weeks most of those undies were dropped from the stores clothing lines. When you see this clearly blatant attempt at sexualizing children, you have to speak up and make some noise. what motivation do these companies have to stop unless the know they are going to lose money pushing this filth. What irritated me the most was that while in that dept store several other mom quietly expressed shock and disgust but went on about their shopping of other items.they gave that store their business anyway! Okay, sorry to get so heated. I just want to add so nobody thinks im attacking poor tina for buying a joke gift for her friend shawna, I wasn't criticizing her for shopping there. at least that shop was geared for teens. This topic just reminded me of that incident a few years ago, coupled with a recent experience i just had at my kids public school, got me to thinking about this again.

I have an 8 yr old god-daughter who thinks she is 16. I tend to watch what I get her a bit more because I am so concerned about the things ya'll just mentioned. I can see playing in the makeup and with the nail polish, since we did that at that age. However, the trendy clothes and things that go with everything is a bit much.

And really no more Brittany!!! There is a rule in my SUV that Brit Brat can not be played. But after listening to Avrial Levign...she actually has messages that are pretty decent for the younger ones. For instance her new one out is about saying no to a pushy boyfriend. Good one for these little girls hitting puberty way before we did.
