Prayer for the battle

You know I have thought about this and I have noticed that perhaps it might actually be needed on here. First let me say that I am not isolating non believers at all. Ya'll are more than welcome to join in. With that said...

Why don't we pray for each other about losing the weight? I am looking at this as a battle to be waged and what better way to wage it but with God's promise to us.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13

We have so many hedges to jump in this new adventure we decided to begin and there are moments when we are going to need that little extra Divine support including the prayers from our sisters and brothers in Christ.

"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10

And what better way to beat this but call on His promises to us and remember who we are and that we can do anything.

"You are of God, children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4

So may I suggest that we start to pray away these pounds? we can have requests voiced and praises to celebrate.

Again, I am by no means trying to exclude anyone who is not a believer. I noticed on the Dante post that there are some of us who are believers and prayer is very important to our faith. God hears everyone of us and He answers every one of our prayers. Granted it could be a no, yes, or maybe but He does answer tham.

I dont have any scripture to quote or regularly say prayers (although I am a believer, just a backslider).

I'll be the first to admit my prayer life isn't want to should be and perhaps I don't know the bible as I should, especially since we are aclled to hide the Word in our hearts, but faith as a mustrad seed is all we need (got to go look into which Gospel that was in)!

I think I am going to just write the prayer I am thinking...

Lord,

Thank you so much for these wonderful ladies and their strength. I ask that you give them comfort, strength and the will to face this day of managing and loosing weight. I ask that you also give us open hearts to enjoy each other victories and support each other in set backs.

In Your Son's most holy name...

I also would like to ask if there are prayer requests for specifc things. There is power in prayer ya'll.

Again, I am not excluding anyone. We are all His children...even if you don't believe.

Hi Karrie, I would love to join you. I was thinking about you tonight. I am doing a first place Bible Study at my church. I know it started in Houston and I was just curious if you had ever done it. sharla

No, I haven't. What church did it start it?

I really think we can tackle this with prayer as the main weapon to figt the bulge. I was cleaning some stuff out and I found my Weigh Down book. I think I am going to restart that book again and see what we can apply from it as a Believer to what we are doing now.

First Baptist of Houston. It is a Bible based weight loss program that has encourages Bible study, scripture memory, exercise, healthy eating, journaling, prayer, and encouragement. I am not following the eating plan, but I really like the bible study. The lesson we are studying right now is spiritual warfare and strongholds like overeating. It had never occured to me to look to God to help me lose weight, but I am slowly understanding I can't do this alone. Last week we talked about how Satan uses things like Neg. thoughts(I will fail, I am fat, I am worth nothing) to destroy us. The only way to overcome is through prayer and God's word. I am not very good at praying (that sounds really bad) but it is something I am working on and starting to understand how important it is. sharla

Now what I am commanding you today is not to difficult or beyond your reach. Duet. 30:11

Sounds like they have taken weigh down and actually gone a step more. I would love to get the book and see what I can do.

I think prayer is a major hurdle for anyone in their walk. One thing I have learned is that just talking to Him as you would anyone else is vital and important. We are to have a relationship with Him and talking with Him about everything is the best way to do it.

I guess going hey Dude how's it hanging isn't as bad as I thought. :)

HMMM, maybe we should do this together on here?

For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11

Oh goodness don't admire me too much. I am a sinner as well as the next person. I am just saved by Christ's death on the cross.

I would say in college I did the back sliding thing but you know what little faith that I did have pulled me through. God doesn't forget His children. He is faithful to us even when we aren't worthy of it. He still reaches for us and still calls out to us. I love the fact that His grace is so complete and sufficent.

And you are right it isn't as easy as it might look. I have people who will ridicule me, who try and sell me the world's view about things and I have my own unworthiness to deal (The Word says that our best is nothing more than dirty rags to His righteous and holiness.) with. To think that He gave His So over to death beyond painful so that I may live and have life, is beyond comprehension in His love for me and for us.
