I'm reading two books at the moment, but have a short list of books that I want to read or re-read this summer. While I do love a good book,it has to catch me in the first few pages and keep me interested...otherwise,it ends up taking me months to read one book and thats how I start reading more then one at a time.

Reading now: Black Elk Speaks by:John G.Neihardt

The Spiral Dance by:Starhawk

Want to read: The Handmaid's Tale by:?

Want to re-read:The Cobra Event by:Richard Preston. He also wrote The Hot Zone, which was a gruesome story of the Ebola virus and the different strains.

Shawna,I vaguely remember reading The Bad Place...I like Dean Koontz,we have many of his books, along with a whole bunch of other horror books and authors =)

I like the classics, though occasionally I enjoy some of the more "popular" (meaning NYT reading list) books, for example I really liked "The Five People You Meet in Heaven."

I want to read The Da Vinci Code, as well as a few other books along the same lines. They've become interesting to me.

I also plan to reread Forever Erma (Erma Bombeck compilation) soon.

And, I have to admit, I read a few Hardy Boys mysteries of my sons recently, purely for nostalgic reasons.

Is the Cobra Event the one where that teenage girl has a runny nose in the beginning and then has a seizure or something??? About biological weapons?? I think I started to read that and it just grossed me out (because my mom didn't warn me to not eat while I was reading it...lol) so I never finished it. I don't know if that's the right book because I started another one at the same time and I can't remember which was which...I didn't finish either of them...lol.

I am reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy at the moment...I'm still on the first one.

I think those will keep me busy for awhile so i don't have any other books in mind that I want to read. But I did start one called The Happy Isles of Oceania: Paddling the Pacific by Paul Theroux (he wrote The Mosquito Coast)...it's a travel book about his experience paddling to the Islands of Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and a bunch of other Pacific Islands) while doing a book tour. I'm not far into it...I just haven't been in the mood to read lately...but it's pretty entertaining and interesting. Kind of tells you the "dark side" of these fabulous places as well as the good stuff.

Let's see since I haven't been able to focus for about a month...

I am reading Left Behind and a Catherine Coulter book.

I am curious about Da Vinci only because what I have seen about it I don't agree with it at all. OK that is an understatement but it will suffice.

I am sure there will be another one soon since I am starting up a new small group.

OH and Sharla, I am about to start First Step, the book that is. Classes don't start again until August here.
