This was tragic to hear....

I heard some really bad news yesterday about a couple I went to high school with. They are only 26 years old, one year older than me. They met in high school, and got married a few years later, and they had a 2 year old and a baby 2 weeks ago. On Friday, she had a pain in her leg, and they didn't know that it was anything serious, so her husband massaged it for her. But then the pain went up to her shoulder, and then up to her neck, and then she must have had a stroke...and she died! It turns out it was a blood clot. I was so shocked to hear this, because she is only a year older than me...and now her husband, who is my friend's 2nd cousin, is left with a 2 year old and a 2 week old baby! I can't believe it! My friend was really shaken up when she called me, because she is the same age, and she had a baby 3 months ago. It's hard to believe that this could happen to a young family.

Please pray for this family, because it is going to be rough for them to get through this! ~Sabrina

It sure does...Andre was here and we were making dinner together when my friend called to tell me. Afterwards, I just kept saying to Andre that I couldn't believe it...once he was even saying something to me and I didn't hear him because I was off in a daze, thinking about how horrible it would be to die at such a young age, with such young children...and it really hits home when it's someone you know! I told him that it's such a shock when it's so sudden an unexpected like that, and that if anyone should die of a stroke at the age of 26, it could be me, because my mom died of a stroke at the age of 53, and her mom died of a stroke at the same age. Of course, there were other factors involved, but still, there is a history of stroke in my family. It's definately different circumstances that this girl died under, but it still sort of makes you think of your own mortality. I told him that it was scary to me, but then he reminded me that I've come a long way with my weight loss, and I'm really making an effort to be healthy. ~Sabrina

OMG. My daughter is 2 (almost) right now and I can't imagine leaving her at this age (not like I'd have a choice).

This girl I know had a baby a month ago and 2 weeks ago she (the mother) woke up and she was slurring her speech and one side of her face was numb. She went into the local hospital and they told her to go home. She was getting really bad migraines and she was still numb, she was in so much pain she had to walk out on her own baby shower...her family took her to the nearest city hospital & she's been there ever since. She's 24 and it turned out she had 3 strokes. Now they're trying to find out what caused it.

Scary stuff. We just never know when our time is up.

Sabrina...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family.

I am not amazed anymore of what strokes can do and when they can hit. One of my co workers little 1 yr old daughter, at the time, had a stroke. They could not find out why.

Again, I am thinking of you and sending hugs your way.
