I was just wondering if anyone has any fitness goals that seemed really impossible when you were first starting (or maybe it hadn't crossed your mind at first) but now seem more attainable and achievable. I mean like running a marathon or something.

I live in Western Washington State and I was driving to my sister's house the other day and saw Mt Rainier in all its glory and do you know what I thought?? I thought, "I should climb that" !!!!

What?? I have NEVER had any desire to climb a mountain...but for some reason, I do now. maybe because I feel like I could do anything right now?? I don't know. But it really seems like something I could do one day in the not so distant future. In fact, I am looking in to what I need to do to train for a climb like that...and there's a 50 mile hike I'd like to do around the base of another local mountain. One day, one day...lol

I just feel really empowered lately and climbing a 14,000+ foot peak seems not so impossible...lol. I thnk I'm going mad...rofl.

It's just strange to me that I thought that and didn't say, "you're crazy. You can't do that"...I guess my self-confidence is back! :o) woo hoo!

So anyone else have these kinds of thoughts or aspirations??

So am I just ignorant because I don't know what the CN tower is?? It sounds like quite a good challenge though! I am not a big stair person...lol.

Is there anything you can do to help the shin pain??? Strengthening those anterior muscles perhaps (the Anterior Tibialis is one to look at I think)???

I hope you'll be able to do it! I know you will!! :o)

101? Nothing really...i love that heat. Just drink lots of water and take a slower pace and you can do it. I do it here from about late May until late October.

Not me! You wouldn't get me out in that kind of heat. I'm a wimp when it comes to the heat, especially anything that's 3 digits! But then again, I'm not used to it like you are so it would probably be more dangerous for someone like me to over exert myself in that kind of heat. It's only hot here 3 months of the year and I couldn't live without my A/C!

I can't live without my AC either. but when you get out of your car and already drenched in sweat by the time you get to your front door, you kinda get used to it right then.

I have been in shorts for about 2 months now and I won't put on a pair of heavy jeans until october.

Sarah,

You live in such a beautiful part of the country! I've only been out there once, but Mt. Rainier was gorgeous. I couldn't believe that there was still like 10 feet of snow on it in July! When I was there, there were people in shorts (since it was in the 70's) playing in the snow. I never saw anything like it.

And Mt. St. Helens was awe inspiring. I had no idea that the devastation was so widespread. It was so weird driving up the road in lush forest, then we turned a corner and all of a sudden all we saw were the skeletal remains of all the trees that were destroyed in the eruption. It was such an eerie feeling! I can't wait to go back to Washington again someday.

And I know you'll climb Mt. Rainier if you put your mind to it. I say go for it (when you feel like you're ready of course). What a great goal!

Yeah...it is beautiful here! :o) I am "re-discovering home" right now thanks to an online friend who asked for travel tips to the Seattle area. I went gave here this huge long list of things (and links) to do and see that aren't necessarily "touristy" and it made me realize how great it is here. I've lived here all my life and I just take it for granted sometimes. If I ever move from here it will have to be somewhere that has BIG mountains and ocean...lol...so you know, Oregon or California or New Zealand...rofl....because I don't think I could live without being in close range to either.

The St. Helens devastation is amazing isn't it? It's getting greener and greener but there are still areas that are just completely barren. You can't really realize just how huge that eruption/explosion was until you see it first hand. We're coming up on the 24th anniversary here on May 18. Check out these before/after shots...it's just amazing: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/mshnvm/digital-gallery/before-after.html

I'd love to participate in the Danskin Women's Triathalon in Seattle in 2006. A good friend of mine has done it twice, and it is such an awesome experience, and one that requires a lot of training. You can do it all yourself, or with a team. :-)

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH................Sarah, we do not want everyone on the planet knowing how perfect it is out here. Next thing you know we will be overrun. Now please follow the Washington party line...it only rains out here :) By the way where did you go to High School...maybe we were rivals! Now no more telling about the true Washington, deal? KSAS
