lofty goals??

I was just wondering if anyone has any fitness goals that seemed really impossible when you were first starting (or maybe it hadn't crossed your mind at first) but now seem more attainable and achievable. I mean like running a marathon or something.

I live in Western Washington State and I was driving to my sister's house the other day and saw Mt Rainier in all its glory and do you know what I thought?? I thought, "I should climb that" !!!!

What?? I have NEVER had any desire to climb a mountain...but for some reason, I do now. maybe because I feel like I could do anything right now?? I don't know. But it really seems like something I could do one day in the not so distant future. In fact, I am looking in to what I need to do to train for a climb like that...and there's a 50 mile hike I'd like to do around the base of another local mountain. One day, one day...lol

I just feel really empowered lately and climbing a 14,000+ foot peak seems not so impossible...lol. I thnk I'm going mad...rofl.

It's just strange to me that I thought that and didn't say, "you're crazy. You can't do that"...I guess my self-confidence is back! :o) woo hoo!

So anyone else have these kinds of thoughts or aspirations??

I know what you mean, Sarah. I've lived in New England all my life, and there's so much to see and do. I still haven't done everything I want to do! I can't believe that I've never been to the islands of Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, off the coast of Cape Cod. And it's only about 2 hours away! I love to travel and see different areas, but I'm partial to New England. I guess it's because it's the only place I've lived, so even if I moved somewhere else, this would still always be home.

Thanks for sharing that link with me. It was really interesting. It's been 24 years already? That means it's been 5 years since I've been out there! It was 19 years since the eruption when I was out there. It doesn't seem like that long ago. Wow, how time flies!

Oh...right...I forgot!

Ummmmm...did I mention that it rains a lot and there are volcanoes that could blow up at any moment and earthquakes (anyone watching that mini-series 10.5 on NBC?? The quakes started in Seattle...lol. We've been expecting "the big one" for years now...any day, any day) and wind storms and flooding and the occasional mini-tornado and landslides and bad traffic and...and...did I mention the non-stop rain??

(do you think that will work ksas? rofl)

I went to Kentridge (in...Kent! lol). How about you?? When did you graduate? I did in 1994...10 years this year!!

I agree, Karrie that Texas is a wonderful place, but you're missing out if you don't visit other areas of the country. It's very interesting to see different places and experience the local cultures, not to mention the food! If you ever come up this way, you have to try some of our clam chowda!

Too late! I've already been out there. I think it only rained one day when I was there :-)

Linda,

I have been all throught out the south as far up as upperstate New York. I have been all the way over to Vegas and been to Wyoming onto the contential (I know spelling) divide, and everywhere between. I believe there are only 12 states I haven't been in or through.

There has yet to be anything as diverse or as wildly beautiful as Texas to me. I have lived here all my life and only tapped into a quarter of this huge and awesome state.

Oh and I have had Chowda up in Boston...nahh I'll pass. I would rather have tortila soup with shredded chicken chile con carne.

DANG! Well, since you've been here I guess it's okay...lol. You saw it for yourself! ;o)

There are a lot of places that I've never been here and everything's so close it's almost ridiculous that I haven't! But I guess you just figure it will always be there and you'll get there one day, huh? Joe and I used to go on long drives and just explore the state...pre-child...lol. I miss doing that and hopefully in a few more years we'll be able to again.

Ok, from the sound of the other post, it sounded like you never left Texas. Well, I guess I was wrong! At least you've had the chance to experience other parts of the country. But I know you're just a Texas girl at heart lol!

I'll visit but I won't stay.

Besides, I like the warmth here and sorry been many places in the spring and Texas still has the best wild flowers. I wonder if that is why we are called the Wild Flower State as well?

Only places I have not been YET is over seas. But I am praying that will change one day.

You're not ignorant in not knowing...but that's what Google is for.

I have taken fitness instructor training and there are no strengthening exercise for the anterior tibialis that I know of, only stretches.
