Can you post how much weight you have lost, how long it has taken and any stalls etc? I think I am expecting to lose weight really fast when in reality I know it will take awhile. thanks

Hi Sharla, I've lost 22.5 pounds since the beginning of January. My stats are 246/223.5/150ish. I think right now I'm hitting a stall because I'm getting ready to go on vacation so I haven't really been paying as much attention to my eating and exercise as I should be. I didn't lose any weight last week, but at least I didn't gain! With the exception of last week, I've been averaging about a pound and a half loss a week. Hope this helps!

lost 20 pounds and 10% bodyfat, took me 3+ years, because after 2 years of working out 3-5 days a week and not losing ANYTHING, finally realized I had to eat well too.

stats: 135/115

Thanks Ladies. I think in my mind I expect to lose around 10 pounds a month and when it doesn't happen I think I am failing and this isn't working. I need to hear that it takes time and it isn't going to happen overnight. sharla

Hey Sharla, Hang in there...it's taken me 3 years to go from 290 to 225. The majority of that in the last year. It's hard to keep going sometimes, but keep at it. As my Mother always says, "It took years to put on the weight, it will take years to take it off" My trick is that I allow myself a treat a Sundays, and about every 6 weeks I take 1 week off. I don't go crazy, but I allow myself things I don't normally. What ever works ya know. Good luck..Ruthie

Well...so far I've lost 74.5 pounds...but I am back up to 204 (from 201.5) so I am looking at what I've been doing and trying to get back on track. I know it's largely due to lack of water...we've had soda in the house and it's all I've been drinking. grrrrr...now I know...no more soda in the house (at least the kind I can have). Also, I have been off track with my eating...not eating enough and not choosing wisely. And I've been trying to pin-point why am making poor choices...a little emotional eating I think...I've been in a mental funk lately and I'm not sure exactly why but I have a lot of things going through my mind and it's stressful.

So I've been on Atkins since 8/25/03 and I've lost about 75 pounds and 72". I was averaging about 10 pounds a month but my average is down after April...but still close to 10 a month.

I think it all depends on the person though...I am still fairly young (will be 28 this month) and I have a physical job (massage therapist) and a young child to keep up with so I seem to lose kind of easily (which blows my mind).

I've lost about 45 pounds since last August (going from 240 to 195). I'm hitting a plateau right now, which is understandable, considering how little time I've been spending at the gym and how lax I've been on watching what I eat. Still, it's been 9 months and I'm averaging about 5-6 pounds a month. I'm counting calories (trying to restrict my intake to no more than 2000 calories a day, preferably between 1700-1800). I also work out quite a bit (or I do when I'm not studying for finals)--90 minutes a day, four to five days a week.

BTW, my fastest weight loss was in the first month I was going to the gym regularly--I lost 10 pounds in 30 days. Since then I have not lost more than 6 pounds in a single month. It's more important that the weight loss be steady than rapid.
