I want to eat the cake...
| Thu, 05-06-2004 - 3:59pm |
Yesterday was my son's 16th birthday. He got his drivers license. He is driving a car around in the great big, cruel world right this very minute! I want to eat the rest of the birthday cake...it will make me feel better... I haven't yet, but I WANT to!

I can't even imagine what you're going through. My oldes is 11, so Ihave a few years before she drives. It scares me even now!
You can do it! I wish I could yell that to myself sometimes!
Good luck--w/him and the cake!

And actually food is "intended" to be "more than food". One could cogently argue that that powerful boost of chemicals and the gustatory pleasure from eating caused our ancient ancestors to eat when they were not hungry, provided food was available. Those ancestors who ate when they were not hungry and developed a little extra fat were more likely to survive famine and reproduce, thus passing on genes that coded for brain chemistry that made people more likely to eat when not technically hungry.
Not intending to offend anyone who believes in creationism. Just putting forth a hypothesis. One could also argue that God makes food pleasurable because he loves us and wants us to be happy. See the "Weigh down diet" by Gwen Shamblin for more on that.

On a happy note, I didn't eat the cake! Instead, I checked on Ryan and made sure he was in one piece and then I went to Kohls and bought myself 3 new pairs of sandals and a new purse. So I used retail therapy! Good for me huh?!?!?
