Day. She's 11, and despite theoretically *knowing* I'm on a diet, she decided to make a very fancy brunch (french toast made from croissants, etc) and then chocolate cake for dessert!!!! I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry - I obviously had a choice between breaking my diet or breaking her heart (well, a little overstated, but she would have been really hurt and disappointed) so you know which one I picked :-) Hopefully now, though, I've clarified the importance of sticking to my diet to her...and if not, my birthday isn't until December, LOL!

That seems like a pretty lame excuse. What's more important to you - stuffing your face with cake and french toast just because it's Mother's Day, or a lifetime of good health? As your daughter, she should understand the importance of your diet, and if she doesn't, you should see to it that she DOES. Take some responsibility for your own actions, and don't try to blame it on your daughter or the holiday.

Not joking at all. If she was really SERIOUS about her weight loss, she wouldn't try to blame her slip-ups on her daughter. She should have politely refused to eat the inappropriate food, and reminded her daughter that her diet was important to her. It would be a valuable learning experience for the child, too (and after all - the girl really is old enough to know better.)

All i have to say is that I truly pity you and I am hoping you don't have children.

To even suggest that shows nothing more than cruelty.

I see where you get your screen name. You are a drama queen.

First, perhaps it never occurred to you that this girl MADE her mom the brunch---instead of going out and buying something. To me that shows that she knows that gifts from the heart mean A LOT MORE than purchased ones.

Second, good health means not denying yourself all the time. Any doctor would agree. One meal does not a diet break.

And third, saying she couldn't eat the meal WOULD have broken her daughter's heart and left her w/a very bad taste in her mouth for Mother's Day in the future.

I'm sure you know all this, but as your screen name implies, you ARE a drama queen. God help your family---you must be a real treat to live with. In the future, keep your snotty replies to yourself.
