Day. She's 11, and despite theoretically *knowing* I'm on a diet, she decided to make a very fancy brunch (french toast made from croissants, etc) and then chocolate cake for dessert!!!! I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry - I obviously had a choice between breaking my diet or breaking her heart (well, a little overstated, but she would have been really hurt and disappointed) so you know which one I picked :-) Hopefully now, though, I've clarified the importance of sticking to my diet to her...and if not, my birthday isn't until December, LOL!

What a sweetie! I've never had croissant french toast, sounds yum!

I can't believe some people on this board are giving you a hard time about eating something your daughter made you with love for mother's day! How hateful and awful to say you shouldn't have eaten it. I guess some people lose weight by becoming heartless shells of former human beings. How much does a soul weigh, anyway? Do you lose that much weight by giving it up?

Any mom would have eaten it and loved it, too.

happy mom's day!

What good is a lifetime of good health if you've alienated your child, and are so inflexible that you can't deign to enjoy a homemade gift from your daughter?

Any mother who could look at her child and say "I won't eat what you made me for Mother's Day because it's not healthy enough. You should know better" doesn't deserve to spend Mother's Day with her child. mom2morgan handled it great. Anyone who cares more for their child's feelings than for their diet is okay in my book.

And there was no blaming it on her daughter. She acknowledged that she CHOSE to do it, and was smart enough to also acknowledge that she'd have hurt her child's feelings had she refused.

Thanks, Ladies! I'm kind of shaking my head, since I didn't expect my Mother's Day to become such a hot topic *blush* but thanks for the kind words from most of you,and coming to my defense. What a weird situation to get "jumped" on.

Hi Forte - I read through much of the link, but I must be missing what you are trying to share here - which part did you want us to read? I realize this was posted to Dairy Queen or whatever and not to me, so perhaps it wasn't intended for me to understand it...but I admit I'm curious.

OH - I think I see. Is it about the Furies Swooping in to defend a mother who has been harmed? That's kind of cool - I'm just not sure if you are "fer" it or "agin" it :-)
