I have been overweight all my life. I am 5'7 and weigh 320 lbs. I work manage a hazardous waste management business in the San Francisco Bay Area, am single with a 16 yr old son, and extremely overworked, and stressed. At 43 I have worked so much, and weigh so much, I feel like it is now or never to regain control of my life.....anyone ever feel this way? I can't tell if it is the weight? peri-menopause? stress? or the recent hard labor I have had to do due to lack of employees, but I am just pooped and feeling like I weigh more than the sinking Titanic....any advise?

welcome to the board!

The advice i have is to keep track of what you eat for a couple of days(everything drinks, condiments fitday.com is free and you put in foods and it tells you how many calories, carbs, protein and fat the foods have. Just look at the labels caus half the items on fitday are different) and see how to change it for the better.

There are several programs you can look into(several have boards on diet and fitness) the programs i think of that i've seen people on here use: calorie counting, eating better/low fat,Weight Watchers,Atkins,South Beach,Body For life,Dr Phil's weight loss solution,LA Weight Loss.

You say you're overworked and overstressed well i'd advise to take some time for yourself, whether it be a bubble bath, quiet time to read a few chapters of a book,a walk around the block.

Good Luck!

Welcome. My best advice is to throw out unhealthy food so you won't be tempted and start walking every day. Even if it is just a few minutes you will start to have more energy and less stress. sharla
