I say take the leap. At this point, you've learned the weight loss skills. What you need now are relapse prevention skills. I'd sit down and make a list of "red flags" that would tell you that you are not making it on your own and that you need to go back to ww. You could post it somewhere so that you stay accountable to yourself. As long as you are avoiding these behaviors, consider your solo journey a success. If you start seeing the red flags, you can always re-join, and having these things written down will help you know to go back before you've gained a bunch of weight.
Shawna...I think the reason WW works for so many people is because of the support system. I mean, yes, counting points is easy too but way back when I tried it, I found that I did awesome when I went to meetings but when I couldn't afford it anymore and quit the meetings...well, I didn't have the support and accountability. I know you're doing the online thing and I'm not sure if you visit their message boards there or not but I know there are a lot of tools on their website. Do you use those enough to justify $15 a month???
You have a ton of support here...but not everyone will be able to relate to your eating style...but you visit the WW board too so that may not be a problem. And after all, we all have the same goal in mind.
I think if you don't want to count points anymore, and you think you're ready and know *how* to eat to lose weight then by all means, quit paying them $15 a month! You have so much *free* support here...and you can always re-join if you start going crazy...lol.
I think you've made up your mind...and you know we'll all support you in whatever way we can, no matter what your decision!
I would say that you should use what you have learned and continue on your own. If you need WW for accountability have find a friend that can help you through with this.
It's going to become a waste of money for you and there is going to be a point when you really don't need them anymore anyway.
Do what you want to do. Stay in WW if you want to stay. Venture forth on your own, if you want to do that. Gain or lose, or stay the same....those are all individual choices and ONLY YOU can make them....really. Good luck.
Wow....that was amazing. I'm sure she never thought of doing what SHE wants to do... She asked for advice. That reply wasn't advice. If you don't care, don't reply.
Anyway, Shawna, I think you can DEFINITELY do it on your own. You know the program, and I bet its second nature by now. You'll get to goal, girl. I know it.
Hi Shawna, confused as to whether you are debating stopping doing WW or just not doing the online thing.
If it's just the online thing then i say why not after a yr you prob know how many points the foods you eat are if not i'm sure you can ask the WW board here.
As for stopping doing WW i can't say. I know when i started this journey i decided to find something i could stick with caus i've heard way too many stories of people getting to goal then gaining it back caus they get back to their old habits. You always know that if you have trouble after you quit to just get back in the old ww habits. Good luck with whatever you choose =)
Are you a former fatty who lost a ton of weight and is now on the militant bandwagon of "if I can do it then everyone should!"
Kind of like a reformed smoker who used to smoke 3 packs a day and just up and quit and now thinks that just because they have the whole world should.
The reason I ask is because most of your posts are so filled with disgust and self rightousness and anger. I have seen very little support an any posts to another and I *thought* this was a support board. Help me understand where you're coming from.
I think if your comfortable with this decision then it must be the right one. I agree with the red flags, if you see yourself going back to bad habits then go back. Have you ever received there monthly magazine? It's great.
