Okay, my dear mother sends me a book w/300 different diets in it. Isn't that sweet:( That has me really irked w/her. Anyway, one of them (she hightlighted this one) is about eating 3 foods w/each meal (a veg, a fruit, a protein...or a protein, a veg, a grain)--as long as one of the foods is a protein. Portion control, naturally, but that was it. WEll, I decided to try it and have lost 3 lbs this week. Okay, its weird why? Well, I don't know how its working...maybe its the portion thing or maybe the protein keeps you fuller (that is what Atkins says, anyway).

I dont' know, if its that or the fact that I've upped my water or what, but we'll see. Just thought I'd see if you guys had ever heard of this or why you might think it works.

Still irked w/mom, though!

I'll be irked with you.

That is what my dietian has me doing is eating more protien then anything, but it is lean protien. Now I am curious. I think this is a job for super bored me.

Thanks, Karrie. I looked this up on Google, butnothing on it. Seems healthy enough. I do eat lean protein, and at least I'm getting my veggies! Just irked that she sent that w/o telling me. What a peach she is!!

I agree.....she also tried to give me a bunch of diet books when I saw her at Christmas. I left them all at the house we were staying in (their friends house across the street!) She's a piece of work, Karrie.

BTW, or should I ask, how are things going w/Jeff.

Must get ds from preschool now. be back later.

Yeah, she's the type that judges people based on how they look. Its not "she's a nice woman", its "she's overweight (or hippy, or chubby), but nice". Lovely.

I am going to try it another week and see how it goes.

Hmmm...did she KNOW you were looking at different diets? If not, I'd be a little miffed too! I'd like to say her intentions were good, but I don't know your mom. It reminds me of the time my "dear" aunt Kathy gave me a pair of XXXL Queen size pantyhose and a can of Slimfast for Christmas. At the time I weighed 140 pounds, and was REALLY sensitive about wanting to lose 20 (LOL- 140 is now my ultimate goal weight). Oh well *shrugs* - I'm glad that the diet is working for you - it certainly sounds healthy.

I believe (and I could be wrong) that this diet is the same as Somersizing (by Suzanne Sommers). They have a board for that here on iVillage. My mom bought her book and I actually enjoyed reading it. It worked for me but I couldn't stay on it because...I don't think my heart was in it.

Setting aside the name...it's actually called Food Combining. Suzanne tells a little story in her one book about it. I guess the people in France have been taught to do this. You have little to no flatulence due to the fact you're eating certain foods together and certain foods alone.

Check out the book at your local library or online.

I recommend it!
