Dr appt. update....

I went back to my dr. today. I have been very lax dietwise lately, between stress eating, holidays, etc, and to be honest I was dreading going. I could not stand the thought of seeing a gain on that scale, because I am ONLY weighing at the dr's office now. I fretted all morning, and finally decided to bite the bullet. I knew I'd exercised plenty, and hoped the indulgences would maybe balance out to a stall.

I LOST FOURTEEN POUNDS! I am going to attribute at least part of the success to the new medication I take that helps metabolize insulin properly. This has to have helped when I screwed my carbcounts, but I am so happy! I go back June 10th and I am determined to do just as well.

My blood pressure is good, cholesterol is good, and my dr. is very pleased with me. Atkins is being very, very good to me. And to top it all off, I started my period yesterday. I was unhappy about it, because it's yucky, but at least I have periods again. I didn't for so long, and now I'm excited!

Hugs

PCOS and hypothyroidism can both contribute to amenorrhea. Plus, I was heavier then. :-)

Last weigh in was April 13th. Today's May 13th. Next is June 10, so it's gonna be about every month, give or take a day or two. :-)

I did not know that!! My periods started doing that a couple years ago - only lasting 2-3 days, but VERY heavy, especially on the first day. (I'm also really "regular" at around 31-32 days). I thought that was really weird - and maybe pre-menopausal, but it sounds like it could be due to my thyroid! (I was diagnosed at Christmas)

you have to remember that when your thyroid is out of whack you become infertile so the periods start changing. that's how i know when my levels need to be checked now.

Are you sure that you become completely infertile? I didn't know that either, although I know it can affect fertility. I'm glad I'm not trying for more kids! But I'm wondering if I might have had it in mild form for several years -because I had a HECK of a time getting pregnant with my DD who is now 5. Nearly 2 years of trying - doing the ovulation indicators and the whole 9 yards. But I had my thryoid checked back then and they said it was 'normal'.
