Weekends are sooo difficult!

Is it just me, or do any of you DREAD the weekend in terms of sticking to your diet?

I don't know what it is. During the week, I'm at work for a billion hours per day and I am so good at sticking to my diet. By the time I come home at night, I am usually very tired and I end up eating a light, diet-friendly meal before watching TV, exercising, and going to bed. But then the weekend comes and I find myself with too much "spare time" on my hands, which ultimately leads to eating temptations (boredom is the key trigger here).

I slipped yesterday... big time! I started the day off well:

Breakfast: raisin bran cereal with skim milk; a cup of coffee without sugar or cream

Lunch: one can of plain tuna in water, raw baby spinach with fat-free russian dressing, and a slice of toast with a tablespoon of raspberry jam

Late Afternoon Snack: Progresso vegetable soup (I was starving!)

And then came the fat free frozen yogurt (loaded with sugar & calories).

And then I ate ginger snap cookies - about four servings!

And then I ate peanuts & raisins (trail mix).

And then I had an appletini.

And then I revisited the frozen yogurt again!

On the bright side of things, I managed to chug down 120 oz. of water. But I was still very bad yesterday in terms of my food consumption. I did manage to exercise for 30 minutes, but it doesn't make up for my slip-up!

Fortunately, I didn't gain anything from yesterday's binge. I am just so angry at myself and I always dread weekends for this reason. I'll be better today, I hope.

Anyway, I just needed to vent. Does anyone else have this weekend problem?

Oh Lord do I ever hear you. Weekends are my hardest time too...well, every day is hard for me, but especially weekends and nights. I try to stay busy though, get out of the house. If I'm just sitting around, my natural instinct is to snack. Yesterday, I was bad as well. I started out great with some frozen grapes and a slice of toast for breakfast, then a slim fast for lunch since I was out on the run, but when I got home, I was starving, and there was temptation right in front of me: Pop Tarts. Well, one package turned into three, followed by a Marie Calendar's Pot Pie. I felt so guilty by the time I was done, I stopped eating, which iesn't healthy either.

So I'll just try again today. As I sit here eating grapes and melon, I remind myself to take it in small steps one day at a time. That's the best I can do. I recognize the more I beat myself up for the mistakes, the more I fail. So forget yesterday and start fresh again today!

We are so busy during the week that it makes it easier for me to eat better. I don't graze,Which I have a tendancy to do. When the children and husband are around I seem to eat more. They all eat all the time. Husband eats every three hours as long as he is awake. Snacks between meals are real big thing for him. It's probably a good thing weekends are only two days long.:) My big fear is coming up next week. The boys get out of school for the end of the year on Friday. The will be spending the summer at home with me when I am not working. Lord help me! Hugs, Brenda

I think the best thing to do is plan, plan, plan.

A typical weekend for me goes like this:

Saturday:

breakfast, on plan, as I need the healthy carbs/lean meat to get me through 2 hours at the gym.

lunch, a bowl of fish ball pho (low fat, lots of veggies)

dinner, bf and I usually cook something fancy. Fancy=healthy, TONS of veggies, never deep fried.

I usually splurge with ice cream/small portion of processed snacks/alcohol (sometimes all 3, but PORTION CONTROL!)

Sunday:

breakfast, healthy, roasted veggie omelet or grilled cheese on whole grain toast, coffee

lunch, eaten at home, usually healthy as I don't keep junk food in my house

dinner out with parents - occasional splurge, but still try mostly to stay OP.

It CAN be done...it takes a bit of willpower and a lot of planning.

Of course some weekends are worse, with pizza and such, but those are rare.

oh gosh, I hate the weekends food-wise. I always go off plan. Great during the week, sucky on the weekend, start over. ARGHHHHHHH

Its tough, as we all seem to be attesting to. I guess I need to be busier on the weekends--HA! I've got two kids in sports, so we're nothing but busy!!

Oh well, its a new week tomorrow.
